Choices, choices, and pretty colors, too!
Jul. 22nd, 2004 01:21 amWow, I was up at 10:30am. And I resisted going online. Am I TEH SHIT or what? I burned a CD-- and found out midway through that all these AIM logs were in My Documents folder. It's like, why would I need those? When I have a convo I want to remember, I save it. But AIM/DeadAIM/Trillian did it automatically, and it's 99% junk. Even weirder, it invaded OTHER PEOPLE'S PRIVACY. Some of the people whose names are on my BL had their BL in my comp, along with messages they sent to people.
...of course, this only occurred for a few people, and I didn't care to snoop through all the files. I deleted them all-- off the CD temp folder and off my HD, because it's a total waste of space. I hate LOG files-- they're mostly useless. I have about 7 more CDs to burn before I'm done with this comp, I think.
* My Documents - 2 more CDs
* My Shared Folder - Music, Videos, etc. - 2 More CDs
* Assorted Program Files, Downloads, Zips - 1-3 more CDs
I have to try getting some of that done tonight though, as I can't possibly lug a suitcase, a messenger bag full of papers, and both my CD binders. I planned on giving them to Dad tomorrow morning when he comes to pick my stuff up (gah, surviving without my MP3s for a whole day!! The insanity!). So I have to get that done... I only make exceptions for WDKY (Sites) and such, as I can always carry that CD in a portable case with me.
I'm working concurrently on WDKY10 and Dragonfayth-- I present to you some background options I've tinkered with, for the official Dragonfayth skin. Tell me which one you like the best, and I'll use the one with the most votes! (Also, if you have any experience with CSS and want to tell me which colors in the BG would also look good for certain elements-- text, links, headers, backgrounds of tables, etc. then let me know)
* Note that the backgrounds really aren't that small; they're screencapped from Windows Explorer.
DF now has 8 approved authors (Mamono, Atlantis, Kysra, Harley, Yami White Rain, myself, akaVertigo, and Hiana)! So far, I think 3 people have expressed interest in Mod positions? In case you were thinking about it, and want to know more, here are the details:
* You take charge of a specific category, such as Challengefics, Alternate Universes, etc, and approve all the incoming stories for that category. You must make sure that the fics abide by site guidelines.
* You make sure that any questions, comments, or errors regarding your area are answered, or otherwise brought to me.
* You work with the other mods to ensure that fics are properly categorized and such.
I'm also looking for a mod who is interested in maintaining various Skins and such. Such a person would:
* Create various skins for the site, revolving around the Yu-Gi-Oh characters. These skins would be based off the existing skins, and the creator would be provided with all the necessary files (*.tpl files, which can be edited in a text editor, *.html for the manual, *.css for the style sheets, and *.gifs or *.jpgs for the images).
* Test the skins for each section of the sites (main page, review, author, character, search, and recent pages). It's not that hard-- you basically just click around each section of the site and see if your images and colors show up.
A question for the authors currently there--
Harley: did you want the 'e' on the end of your name, or not? Currently, it's 'Harlequin'
Kysra: did you want Guardian to prefix your name, or no?
Yami White Rain: did you want the underscores in your name, or no? I think you're allowed to have spaces...

I better get to that burning now, finish up some last minute packing. Dad's gonna be here in 8-10 hours...
(P.S. Can you believe my MOM has a La Bouche CD --what I'm listening to now? I wish she'd told me when I went to FAITH, so I could have gotten it autographed. Even though the La Bouche we saw isn't completely the same as the ones on the CD... I mean, Melanie died... ;_;)
