azurite: (grr)
Well, things are finally starting to look up. It's another entry after a long and tiresome day, but I feel like I've accomplished a great deal, so I might as well blab about it here. Besides, I have a lot to say. ^_^ (Don't I always?)

Woke up relatively around the same time as the past couple of days-- noonish. First thing I did was play some Final Fantasy X and eat some Froot Loops (it's pretty easy to get sick of sweet cereals like that, I've found). Ever since Joe reminded me that I have to return FFX (and Persona 2: EP) to him, I've been playing it on a spree. Amazingly enough, I beat Evrae (the Bevelle Guardian Wyrm that kept me from winning the last video-game-spree I went on) in one try. From there was the Bevelle challenge-- Via Purifico. I died several times, and when I got to the point where Wakka and Tidus had to challenge the zombie Evrae, I must have done something wrong, because no matter where I went, I couldn't find the chest with the REMATCH blitzball in it. Poor Wakka.

I'm quite satisfied by the past few days' progress in the game; not only did I catch the wedding and Macalania Pool cut scenes (which was the primary reason I started playing FFX in the first place), but I've gotten all the way past the Calm Lands, and am now trekking through the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth in order to obtain Yojimbo. It's a pain in the neck though; all those blade monsters, plus the doom guys... Eh, I keep dying just before the Save Sphere. But, if at first you don't succeed-- re-equip! Hah. Yeah, I need stuff that's Beserkproof, Poisonproof, blah blah. Customizing is a drag for me in FFX though, because even when I have more than the required amount of items for a Customize (for example, 6 Softs to make something Stone Warded), it still is grayed out and says "Not enough required items." GRR! And of course, all the really good Customizations (Double AP, etc.) require items that you never see in stores, rarely ever get dropped, and will take forever to win via some mini game. I have yet to get Rikku the Bribe ability too, so I'm apparently missing out on loads of stuff.

In the Real World, where accomplishment doesn't just come from beating ugly worm-like things that spew gas, I managed to finish off all my laundry. Hurrah! Yatta! Hora! I will never have to go to that stinkin' laundromat EVER AGAIN! Whoo-hoo! I'm a bit disheartened that the $5.91 I got from redeeming another batch of bottles, cans, and such had to go towards my laundry, but eh, what can you do? Now all I have to do is sort, fold, and pack it all (and remember to give Mom back all her stupid black socks). Eh... I hate folding laundry.

I'm not the only one making headway here, either-- even though Mom is ever the nag, she actually stayed on the phone with Sprint Customer Service for a while, and they finally resolved the issue with my cell. I used up the first $2.50 of my $10 credit today, and snagged "In My Pocket" (Mandy Moore) for a ringer. Of course, I had no idea it would come out sounding like a bad MP3, but I've learned my lesson. From now on, stick to Polyphonic ringtones-- preferably DDR ones. I wonder if my phone can download DDR ones... ^_^ That'd be so cool. It'd probably be impossible for me to pick one... but my favorites, if they were available, would be:
* Dam Dariam
* Break Down!
* Saint Goes Marching (Remix)
* Dream a Dream

Ho-hum... I still have lots of packing to do, plus Mom wants me to do the dishes and clean out the recycling stack buckets before I go. *cough*slavedriver!*cough* I knew she was going to do this... work me into the ground so that when I leave, I'll either be extremely frustrated and mad with her (which will inevitably mean one of us will do something stupid), or extremely relieved and unwilling to speak to her, for fear she'll assign me chores over the phone. -.-;

Anyway... I've just finished the PERFECT bowl of Cream of Wheat (I must have measured something exactly, for a change) with blueberries, cinnamon, and brown sugar. I've soared through FFX, and when I get bored or tired here, I'll switch back to the PS2. I still have fics to write, CDs to burn, and boxes and bags to pack, but all in all I feel quite accomplished and happy. I'll be glad to end this week with a bang.

And speaking of bangs... BONFIRE BEACH PARTY!
The bonfire will be held this Friday, July 16th, on Ocean Beach in San Francisco. It's a general food fest, burning bad stuff fest, and chilling with your friends fest. It's BYOF-- Bring Your Own Food, and anything else-- burnables, beach toys, whatever floats your boat. It's going to be the gate nearest Fulton Street, which I believe is Gate 14 or 15. We'll start the fun and games around 5:30-6:00*, but bonfires are always best at night, though the sun doesn't go down until 8:30 or 9:00 in these parts. All are welcome, but thus far we have a higher chick count than guy count-- so guys, get your arses over here and party with us! It's my combo going-away and getting-rid-of-lousy-school-papers party, so come, come, come!
*Subject to change, please call me for details on the 15th or 16th (morning) .

And that, as they say, is that. :)
