HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIDUS!

Sorry I couldn't come to the LJ party thingy... not only did I not receive any absolute, direct info, but I was at PRIDE weekend at Pink Saturday. Speaking of which:

HAPPY PRIDE WEEKEND!!

Yesterday I met up with Fred, Amber, Mike, and Amber's bf Zack at the tail end of the Pink Saturday celebrations over by City Hall. Having only $2 to my name (plus everything was closing), I couldn't much enjoy the 'licious smells of food all around me-- including such "exotic treats" as Kock Dogs and BBQ On A Stick. Don't ask about the Kock Dogs though. They were turkey and shaped like-- well, duh.

We retreated back to Amber's house for a short while, and she let me wear what I call the "Flamin' Dress" -- a strapless black number with "Hot Topic"-style red flames in red glitter over it. This was the dress Amber wore in the last great Group Picture at RTA-- the one time when I wasn't there. ;_; All the same, I did get a good number of looks (and I think this one kid from Monterey hit on me). But I was freezing-- when we weren't dancing. We made our way to the Castro and up and down the party zone, which was all over the hills and down through the streets-- it was a crowded, thronging, expose-your-chest kind of night. Whereas at FAITH, people remained (mostly) clothed, there were plenty of people walking about in g-strings, thongs... lots of topless women... ^^;; Yeah. The "nuns" accepting donations by the entrances and exits were pretty exotically dressed, too. And then there were those guys in the big pink trench coats...

Anyway, quite a variety of activity and people. We went to the area where they were blasting Spanish music (I almost went deaf because of how close we were to the speakers), but then we moved slightly, and the music changed to hip-hop. It got progressively more crowded, and also more tiring-- again, no respect for the short people.

Random tidbits-- Amber bought herself a magic brownie (even though we *ALL* told her not to), Fred got himself LOADS of attention from this one bald guy with a tattoo on the back of his head, Zack refused to dance so we had to force him to head-bop to most of the music, and I... I shimmied until my feet were killing me. My back still is. Really, I think I popped a vertebrae or something. I tell ya what, OW.

Amber, Zack, and I retreated to this corner where there was a video store; we chilled for a while and then headed around, looking for food. Since Amber was kind of stoned at that point (I already gave her my mini-lecture; she knows I worry about her to high heaven), we managed to make it to HOTcookie for water (and I used my last dollar for 4 white chocolate cookies). Amber and Zack went to tell Fred and Mike (who were *still* tearing up the asphalt-- I am under the impression that they have steel feet or something) that we were going to leave. About 20 minutes later (Amber got into a few songs, but I can't blame her; I wasn't too bored) we did leave-- we grabbed some pizza, went back towards 7-11, and then said bye to Zack.

After that, she called Santos (her brother) to snag a ride home; we walked to Valencia and 16th, talking and such along the way. I finally found out just how Frick died... since, believe it or not, I never knew. Surprisingly, he committed suicide. That really didn't sound like the guy that I knew, but then, I guess that just goes to show that you never really know someone as well as you'd like.

Crashed at Amber's once we got there; the people across the street fought VERY loudly and woke me up at some point during the night. I woke up later this morning (around 11am) and started reading more of "Pledged," which is pretty inspirational, somewhat shocking, and rather well-investigated and reported. (I have to admit, I'm half tempted to write a YGO Sorority/Fraternity fic. But I know it'd never work out, and I have too much on my plate as is). We slept intermittently through the day; my back REALLY started aching after we woke up. We had Special K with strawberries and blueberries (quite possibly my new favorite breakfast), aaaaand... yeah.

Went to Best Buy later, watched Invader Zim (my first time! Gir is SOOO CUTE!!), and then I conked out in Santos's room. When he dropped his GF off, I caught the 31-- and guess who called me? Mike #1 aka Cooper! He's supposed to be coming out here in a few days (so my life won't be ridiculously boring and depressing 4th of July Weekend) so we get to chill. Plus I get to hassle him about stalking him when I go out East in September. So now I'm home, and checking email, catching up on stuff...

BEA is still having problems. People are in my admin now (and the question Atlantis and I chose is great, but LONG... It also messes up the look of the join page, but I shouldn't care), but I can't add them. I'm hoping (again) that someone from CodeGRRL.com will get back to me soon. ^^; I'm too dependent on them.

Talked to Umiko Morimoto and this person named Kaiba Seto Kai for a bit; they both want me to update WDKY. Which is a good thing, since all weekend I've been having inspirational thoughts regarding the fic-- though most of them have to do with later chapters. I just have to look at 10 as a chapter-hurdle-- if I overcome it, I'll get to the good parts sooner and torture my readers more. Bwahaha!

Aftertaste of a Razorblade reviewed ALL of WDKY this weekend-- woah. She said one thing that is never going to get out of my head though; why would Johnson (aka Corporate Attorney for KaibaCorp, and one of the Big 5) bother with a personal case of Kaiba's? Hmm... well, I have two potential explanations for that that I *wish* I could somehow bring up later in the fic (knowing me, once I get into full throttle Revision Mode, I *will* find a way to work it in):
(1) He wouldn't. And he'd probably have told Seto such (assuming Seto could get ahold of him), letting the law screw Kaiba over. Which was the idea in the first place, by framing him.
(2) The case technically *was* corporate, since KaibaCorp was responsible for the manufacture of the grenade in question. But since it was a MURDER case, someone had to be arrested, and hey, who better than the CEO of KaibaCorp himself-- and by the way, one of the LAST PEOPLE to have access to the old weapons manufacturing plants?

I did go to a great deal of effort to explain why Seto was framed and how... ;_; Maybe I didn't do as good a job as I originally thought/hoped. *sigh*

Something else... on the PeachGirlMomo list I moderate, there's been some angst or something lately. This one member accused another member of badmouthing her, but it was off-list. And when I went to investigate the messages in question, I found an email from Member A saying that *she* was the "president" of the group (in bad English, mind you). This was the exact same thing Member A was accusing Member B of doing (in addition to swearing and such). And when I told Member A this in a calm, reasonable manner (specifically, I referred to the email in question, linked to it, and said that it originated from *her* email), she freaked out on me. And now she says:

I do not know what is going to happen here, Azurite, why don't we call it quits and get on with our lives and focus on the group. I think it will make people more at ease. Anywho, I just wanted to say hi and that I have full trust in that you can make a right decision. I am also a business person, and if this foolishness is really about this group.......then by all means I want no part in it.

I hope you know what you are doing.

Member A

@_o Does anyone else think this person is WEIRD!?

*sigh* Anyway, I have journals to catch up on fics, to write, and oh yeah... I think I sprained my wrist. It's been hurting for over 3 days now, and I still can't bend it the way I used to. -.-
