Whoo. Saw The Terminal yesterday with Stephanie, after a long excursion downtown. We met at 6th/Geary (and surprisingly, there are lots of creepy people there) and then headed down to Powell; Mom was gracious enough to still be at work *AND* lend me money; she showed Steph and I this café shop of sorts down by the Montgomery BART station, and I grabbed a delicious turkey sandwich and a Snaff-- er, I mean Snapple. :P I still don't have enough caps to win anything, though.
We wandered to McDonald's next, poring over Steph's new Entertainment magazine acquisitions; did you know that Christian Bale of Equilibrium (someone get that DVD for me as a going-away present, I LOVE that movie!) fame is going to be our next Dark Knight? He's the youngest of the lot, too-- there was Keaton, Kilmer (gag), and Clooney, as well. And it makes sense too, since *SHOCK!* this Summer 2005 flick is actually a prequel to all the other movies, under the title Batman Begins.
After that we headed to this amazing bookstore that I'd never heard about-- Stacey's. There are three floors, and loads of books that I want-- plus a huge bargain section! I found some neat books that I'd like to get my hands on before I leave: Darkside Astrology, and How to Spot a Bastard by his Star Sign. *grin* Steph was picking up HP5 "The Order of the Phoenix" for me as a going-away present, and MAN is it huge. But Steph pointed out that Bill Clinton's upcoming memoirs are longer. *snark*
Our feet then took us to Burger King, where I snagged a pie (I don't know why, but something Steph said had me itching for an apple pie. Of all the fast food joints --very few of which I hit up anymore-- BK is the only one with a "real" apple pie). We chatted for a short while and then wandered back to the St. Francis (best bathrooms in the city, baby! Even the 25 cent auto-clean bathrooms have gone to the dogs. *sniff*) and went to the 26th floor for some good reads, and then to the top floor and down (because it's so wicked cool to do that and see the view).
For some reason, Steph was itching to go to the Metreon, so we went; we headed to Portal One and played a bunch of games. The DDR Extreme pad there had SUCKY sensitivity though; or maybe I've lost so much weight I can't even be considered "weight" on the DDR pad anymore. *bawls* It's not fair! I should buy a pair of steel-toed boots before I leave. That'll add a few pounds, I hope... P1 only had Version 2 Initial D, so I decided to play on my last Ver. 2 card, my Integra. The first time, I learned the hard way against Zack "Nakazato" that the wheel was too stiff (as in, not broken in at ALL!), but the second time I concentrated harder and I WON!!!!!!
I BEAT MYOGI!!! *bounces up and down with orgasmic-like joy* I know it's retarded since it's been forever since Initial D came out and everything, but for the first time, I BEAT A COURSE!!! MEEEE!!! *more bouncing* WHEEEE!! And the printers worked fine, and now I have this wicked cool COURSE COMPLETE block on my card! :DDDD I'm going to keep my Integra on Version 2 to see if I can beat The Two Otaku From Tokyo with it. :)
Following that, I played Mr. Driller (of course), but the game was so rigged-- it refused to give me an extra life when I was supposed to have one. But I still love the game-- I even made it onto the Day's Top Players list, at #2! :) Steph and I actually noticed that there was a showtime for The Terminal at 8:40, so once we finished gaming, we headed upstairs to the theater.
Preview-wise, there's a lot of movies-- some I'd love to see, and others I love to hate. "Little Black Book" and "Anchorman" fall into the latter category, and "Anchorman" only because it looks so stupid. Will Ferrell is funny and all, but I just don't click with the "stupid/sexist = funny" genre of movies. However, the new De-Lovely preview does look pretty interesting; if only because Ashley Judd looks so COOL in that movie. I have a whole list of movies I need to see now... must go cinema-trolling this summer...
And as for The Terminal, I will say it was a DAMN good movie. I suppose it's a dramedy, of sorts. There were some really funny parts, and some really (AND I MEAN REALLY!) sad parts-- yes, I cried a few times in the movie. :P So sue me. But I have no idea what people were talking about when they said that Tom Hanks did a bad Middle Eastern accent; first off, he was doing a Russian-dialect sort of accent, and even though the country he hailed from (which I don't know how to spell, and I don't know if it even exists IRL) is probably IN the Middle East, it's probably one of those Russian-dialect countries, so his accent seemed rather good to me. Then again, I'm not a Russian (as I so often have to tell the old couples that babble off to me at the bus stops), so what do I know?
Go see The Terminal, it's really good. And I <3 Tom Hanks.
Thanks to the movie (and quite possibly the time of year), I'm also writing a one-shot, kinda long YGO fic by the name of "Keep." It will be the first fic that I post entirely on my LiveJournal, so I hope I can get some interesting feedback that way. I'm almost done, so look for it soon.
Other than that... *shrugs* I dunno. I'll go back to reading people's LJs now, I suppose.
