"Angel" pulled a "Voyager."
May. 13th, 2004 12:44 amGeh. While "Smallville" continues to improve (as best it can given that most watchers already know the "end" of the story of Clark Kent/Superman), Angel is just getting ickier and ickier. Or so I thought at first. The whole idea of Angel ending so abruptly made me wonder what Joss Whedon was smoking-- And UPN is too broke to pick up the series... stupid FOX. It's just that there were so many promises made about episodes with the old Buffy cast on it, I find it hard to believe they'd try and close off the series with SO many loose ends in a matter of two or three episodes.
And you could claim that Joss has known what he's doing all along (with Cordelia's kiss giving him the visions, Drogeyn going to L.A. to find Spike, etc.) but really, it seems like a bunch of fancy footwork to disguise some really bad scripting. I knew from the get-go that Angel couldn't just turn all corporate on everyone, no matter how damn tempting the "view from the top" is. Initially I thought the Black Thorn people were dangling Angel's redemption-- the whole Shanshu prophecy and the "Is Angel the One?" deal in front of his face, hence his Arctic-degree actions, buuuuttt... nope, he's still all hero, all champion. And again, he's biting off more than he can chew.
But several things remind me of how Voyager was SO great at first, and it ended so LAMELY. Remember the whole thing with Chakotay and Seven, and how it came out of nowhere? (Note: Seven's holodeck things with Chakotay were secret-- between her and the Doc only. The REAL Chakotay NEVER showed any attraction towards Seven whatsoever, which is why the ending with them together made most of the series look like fennel.) Well, that's what's going on with this Nina thing. I knew from the moment they introduced her she was going to be like Kate --an annoying blonde thorn in my side. In the last episode, for Pete's sake, it was "Buffy Buffy Buffy!" and it ended like a deflated balloon! Even if Angel and Spike SAID they were going to start moving on, even if they recognized that Buffy really *was* happy with this Immortal guy (a big loose end which is still dangling, btw), I don't think it would be so "wham bam" and Angel's finally taking that big step and SLEEPING with Nina. -.-;
If he'd gotten that far with CORDELIA, maybe I could be a bit okay with it, but nope, no. And NO. (He never did get that far with her did he?) Ever since Cordy became a love interest and Faith stopped her guest appearances, I sort of lost interest. And then getting rid of Connor? WTF!? It turned into a bad fanfic chock full of Mary Sues and OOC. Blech.
Interesting thing though-- Connor is slated for a guest appearance next week in the finale episode. Harmony's girl, Mercedes McNab, is still being called a guest star on some sites, even though she's a full cast member.

In other news, I have fixed the errors on BEA's fanfic page--
(1) Mamono, Ami, and my review pages all show up now-- I had to change the extension of all the links from .html to .php. Yes, that's right, BEA is entirely PHP!
(2) Kookey's FFnet profile now links to the right place
(3) Kookey's fic "Stuck With Glue" now opens in a new window
(4) Andi-Chan's profile link actually GOES to her profile, and not Aiko Midori's.
Coming Soon:
(1) Upload new banner submission from Alicia (?) and maybe a few others I had lying around???
(2) Upload new fanart -- Tamereth submitted something, but are there others?
(3) Add new nominated sites to the Websites section
(4) Maybe put a form for 'Suggestions' for the site, since people don't seem too keen on emailing me themselves.
(5) New sections to start/add to: Quotes, Evidence, Pictures, Character Analysis -- anything else...?
RPG-wise:
(1) Couple of new evil plots abound. Keep your eyes peeled for new minions, more confusion, and grrl power. Remember, I'm
blue_eyes_anzu on the
duelmonster_rpg.
(2) New icon coming soon! *opens up Photoshop and goes crazy*
Fic-wise
(1) Going to start working on WDKY10 ASAP. Looks like The Present will be on hold until I can score the tablet, which isn't a priority. I obviously need to save for Fanime, but I want to get my PS2 modded soon-- i.e. before I go to L.A.
(2) Also going to start work on "Wish" before it leaves my head
(3) Considering a fic adaptation of events on the DMRPG. Would hopefully (?) be a collab. project with Mamono, Svelte Rose, and Harlequine. Of course, that would suck up a lot of all our time, so maybe if we all did our OWN take of events in prose, from our given character's POV... well it would make for one hell of an original fic, I'll tell ya that much.

Okay, I have to make icons now.
(1) [Kaiba] My fandom wears tight pants. [Yami] ... And leather.
(2) Kaiba: My trenchcoat is better than your trenchcoat.
(3) Angry Anzu: Ph33r my big, fluffy, marshmallow, calorie-filled pixie familiars! [Shot of Shining Friendship]

...I rigged it. ^________^ But it's still funny as hell, and I loved "slapping the Hondamonkey."
Uhm... what to do online, now? Geez.

You're Kaiba! You're a highly sucessful CEO of a multimillion dollar global corporation, but that can't save you from getting your soul sporked out or your head played with. Speaking of which, you sport what is perhaps one of the most ugly haircuts ever. You're determined and comfortable in your power and skill. You can't take a joke. Lighten up.
