On Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon:

* I like the fact that all the girls seem like normal Japanese school girls. It makes the series a bit more realistic. The black hair changing, brown eyes, etc... it makes the transformations seem all the more magical. The fact that Usagi can go from klutzy, tardy standard Japanese girl to beach blonde fighter of justice is pretty darn cool.

* Dude, the Luna Cell Phone is 1,000,000 bazillion times better than the Luna Pen. The catch is, however, she ends up looking like someone else-- she's not totally original. Then again, couldn't she wander through a mall, snap a shot of a manequin she likes, and grab that outfit? *smirk*

* Speaking of Luna, the stuffed animal isn't that bad. It works better than a pet, in some parts. A lot of good things will be cut out because of it; Luna's injuries, a romance with Artemis, Diana... I don't know how far the series is supposed to go, but seeing how things *have* to be changed for Live Action really make you reconsider the boundaries of anime and manga. *Are* there any? The CG movements of Luna aren't bad, and I love her facial expressions.

* Mamoru is a jerk. What else is new?

* Jadeite SCARES me. His hair is uber-poufy, Japanese guys look SCARY with light blue eyes, and he has all this embroidery and such on his uniform... X_X OMG, and Beryl... FREAKY.

I can't wait to watch episode 2!

On gay marriages and idiotic politicians:

Lots of opinion articles in The Chronicle today (and I found a surprising amount of gramattical and structural errors in the non-editorial parts!) that make me want to choke a Republican. Or at least, some of the freaks in my own city, here.

Marriage is not an institution defined by "man and woman." It doesn't exist for the sole purpose of families being created, yadda yadda. Nowadays, everything is run or supervised by a government. And if people want equal rights, they have to be married. You can't do certain things if you're just someone's "partner" or "companion" as opposed to their "spouse." The latter word holds a lot more weight in many more places.

And frankly, why shouldn't gays have the right to marry? If marriage is all about equal rights, then read the f*in Constitution and realize you can't discriminate any groups! And treating homosexuals like second class citizens just IS NOT right! Gays aren't asking that you let them marry in churches, or that you uproot the foundation of your religion or upbringing. They simply want the right to pay joint taxes, get spousal employment benefits, see their partner if they're sick and in a hospital, under critical condition... all the things that "normal" couples can do if they're married.

Some people are under the delusion that a marriage exists to create a family, and that every child has a basic right to a mother and a father. GET REAL! People have been divorcing or separating since there WERE couplings in the first place. There's no such thing as a perfect family, sorry to say. And there are MILLIONS of MILLIONS of children out there who were raised by only one parent, or heck, by NO parents! By aunts, uncles, grandparents, godparents, foster/step parents... Even by siblings. I come from a family where it's mostly female-- I lived with my mom and sister for years. I saw my dad very infrequently, and I still DON'T see him a lot. I might not be the perfect example of normal kid, but I'm sure as hell not dysfunctional or "wrong" because I wasn't raised "the right way."

And guess what? There are plenty of couples --male and female couples, I mean-- that have NO intention of having kids. Not naturally, not synthetically, not accidentally or legally. Not At All. They aren't committing a sin against humanity. People are free to do what they choose, feel what they want... and MARRY WHO THEY WANT! No institution, person, or so-called being of higher power has the right to dispute that.

Yeah, maybe some God put us all here, and us Humanfolk are Sinners, Fallen to begin with, etc. etc. but obviously that doesn't change anytime soon, so while we're here, we might as well enjoy ourselves, right? And if we enjoy ourselves by sinning more and being with people who make us feel good, make us feel LOVED, then that should be all that matters. Okay, so maybe we're taking a chance and quite possibly sending our immortal soul into the pits of a place Far Less Than Heavenly, but I haven't heard anyone complain from Down There yet. Until someone can prove to me what happens to a person/soul/whatever after death, and that people that Do This will Go There, then I stand by my belief that we have to live in the moment, love who we are and what we do, and enjoy life to the fullest.

Come What May.
