azurite: (cute ditz mafia)
I've gotten sent home early before, been able to work overtime on days that weren't that hectic... but none of them come close to Saturday, which ROCKED.

Why? Well, admittedly, I wasn't looking forward to it, since it was Usher work, and I'd been hoping to get an iPod before I had Usher again, so I could score some tunes while working (though the managers undoubtedly would have caught me, unless I expertly threaded a bud-earphone). But the first thing I did when I arrived was to assign me to ticket drop. And in case you don't know, ticket drop now makes me insane. Like, certifiable. But I handled 2 hours just fine, since there weren't many crowds.

Friday hadn't been busy at all, and I hadn't gotten the chance to do *any* Greetings, like I was hoping. The most exciting thing I did was smuggle real paper towels down to box to clean the blasted windows! ^_^; I was thinking yesterday'd be the same, even if it *was* a Saturday, and I'd left waaay early on Friday, before the usual evening crowds. O_O I was only sort of wrong...

They gave me a desk right next to desk services, and assigned me to sit on my butt all day.

I sold the gold heart pins for the Variety Children's Charity. Even with the freaky E.T. hands-touching on the pin, it's still a nice accessory, and cheap for $2! Plus it comes with a coupon for a free Blockbuster coupon for a free rental of any VHS or DVD... which is a $5 right there. Pretty good deal. So having everything *handed* to me like that really put me in a good mood-- and I actually sold *20* hearts! I might win that paid day off! And even if we're way behind Seattle and SoCal, I'd like us to at least be moved up in our category (5th in "Happy Hearts," I believe... the best is "Wonder Hearts," and the 2nd category is "Joyful Hearts"). :P Even if I'd rather be the manager that wins the iPod... phooey to that, yo.

I also got the chance to do several audience greetings-- though I didn't do anything funny or mess anything up, I did get everyone's attention, and some scattered applause. But my face always burns red AFTER I finish, which is weird... why don't I ever get freaked out DURING the AGPs?

I also learned how to do Guest Services, even though it was really impromptu training that *I* asked for. It does involve a lot, but I think I could handle it. Moreso than ticket drop, anyway. Also, all the managers and everybody were really nice... except the part where EVERYONE, even the one of the guy managers, was saying I desperately needed a fill in for my nails! *wounded look* Okay, I know already! I'm going... on Monday.

I work 3-11 today, and if it's anything like Saturday, YAY! I hope I get to do more greetings; 8 more and I get a free entree coupon or something from CPK! ^_^

Better, I'm working on WDKY8, and I *might* have solved the problem with BEA. I'll have to see, there's some error with the page never finishing loading when you try and join. I still want to tweak with the CSS some too, and fix whatever the hell is causing the main page's scrollbar to be PURPLE. :P

Saw Grace on the bus, which was quite cool, though we didn't exactly talk much. Hehe, she's got a great scheme for Fanime-- I'm glad she's going to be there again, because she's fun company at a con (strangely enough...?). I have no idea what I'm even going to be doing in May though, so... :P yeah.

WOAH. Found scanlations for Yu-Gi-Oh up to Battle 325, which is at least Volume 37. And some people say that Yami Yuugi's true name is revealed in Battle 233, but I can't find that anywhere. I only have 35 right now, since it's all that's out... but people in Thailand, of course, have access to the Japanese Shounen Jump, while I do not... *hiss* Still, this whole thing about his true name... O_O Does this mean the series is ending???? NOOOOO!! ;_; It has been going on a while, but this is why the US has gotta stop being so slow in picking up great titles and translating them! Daaaarn yooou!!

Speaking of YGO, Saturday's episode rocked. It actually gave MORE solid plausibility to my cause (i.e. the Seto/Tea cause), as Tea is the ONLY ONE to consistently stand up to Seto and tell him straight out to shape up (er, that sounded like a geometry problem). And while Seto gives everyone else (namely Joey and Yugi) 'tude, he usually tells Tea merely to "get out of" his way. Seriously. And he's never been violent towards her, either. Just really, really callous. ^^; It's cute and funny at the same time. I swear I saw so many potential fic moments in today's ep... I'm glad the reception and sound were great-- and that I recorded it! I just hope I have enough tape for Alias tonight...

Uhmmm... I can't think of much else. I get to sleep in. YAY.

Okay, never mind, found the *summary* for 333 at Janime.biz. And while I'd rather see it for myself, they do have source images in Japanese, and while low scan quality, I can still read them. And I have to say, Kazuki Takahashi deserves a pat on the back-- the man knows his heiroglyphs. Indeed, the Pharaoh's true name is revealed...

A - As in bat, across, about...
T - As in let, tell
I - As in bit (sounds like "ih")
M - As in mud, crumb
O - As in moon, hoot.

Now, the closest way to write the above word (er, name), keeping the Egyptian pronunciation in mind, is Atemu.

Or, in Egyptian, Atem.

O_O

THEY WERE RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*dies of shock*

Ugggh... woke up from what has probably been the deepest, most restful sleep I've had in a long time. And I had a dream, but when my dad called me this morning, I couldn't remember any of it. I mean, I did--for the few minutes before I fell asleep again. The only thing I remember is place called "Bamut." I'm not sure if I was there or going there or what, but for some reason, it's the only thing I can remember.

-.-; How irritating.

As for BEA, I still haven't solved the PHP error that is causing the 'Thank you for joining!' page (or some other page after join.php is completed) to take FOREVER to load. I did, however, succeed in tweaking the scrollbar CSS, so yay, no more purple scrollbar. ^_^ I will conquer this problem!

Called Dad a while back; told him the skinny on CSUN and Rutger's. While he, as I imagined, isn't too enthused about the prospect of me going cross-country to school ("It was 1 degree there! Do you even know what one degree feels like!?!") he isn't vehemently against it (like I suspect Mom will be). He's encouraging me to apply to some private schools in CA though, in the hopes of me getting a scholarship. *sigh* I hate it when he's right, so I'm going to have to try. I don't know WHERE exactly, since most private academies are either women's colleges (NO!) or art schools (i.e.no journalism). Soo... *shrugs* I'll have to do some digging.

I leave for work at 2:15, but Mom wants me to swing some dishes before I go. Blech. I still want to work on WDKY8 and get some more scenes finished; writing them out of order is helping, but I still have several revisions for past chapters, not to mention the usual spelling/grammar job I do as writer-editor. Too bad I can't get someone insanely well-versed in such things to edit my YGO fics. I mean, like an English major who likes Yu-Gi-Oh. ^^;

Tomorrow is Monday! YAY! Hair appointment at this plce, diPietro Todd Salon. Some random woman came up to me in Box this past weekend and said I had the perfect hair for her to play with (or something along those lines), and would I want to spend $10 to get a new haircut and help her pass her program? I suppose so, so long as I have some say in where my hair goes. ^_^ Plus I have HAVE have to get my nails filled in... I hurt two of the fingers on my left hand last night, and now they're still hurting. -.- Not a good sign, yo.

Thursday (my other day off this week) I'm going to Alameda and meet my dad. Getting there, of course, will be a pain in the ass, so here's hoping I don't have to deal with grumpy bus drivers and/or rain. He says I should try talking to the parent volunteer who runs AHS' college center. And I suppose I should, since I'm never going back to Wash... >_< Talk about embarassing.

I want to start playing SO2 again. I get home at 11 though, and if I'm as tired as I think I will be...

Even with 8 hours of sleep (or something like that, which apparently is my phrase of the week...) I'm still kinda sleepy. Then again, I haven't eaten yet. Maybe I should have some cereal and hot cocoa. Separately. ^^; Gaaah... I hope today rocks just as much as yesterday.
