Workin' in concession, popcorn pop pop...
Sep. 17th, 2003 12:03 amWhee, so I'm home. Been home since... Uh, I didn't check the time. But I got off work early. Played a nice 3 stages of DDR, but I'm unhappy with getting Bs. It was only one song (one was an A with a full combo-- yay!... but one was a 5-step with a C. DRAT!) but it was a decent enough workout. Why is it no one ever seems to play the games at the 1000 anyway? They're cheap...
Work-- only from 6-9pm, but it seemed like longer. Jennifer wasn't too much of a stickler, but she's really QUIET, and hard to hear sometimes. She didn't get on anyone's case for heels being too high, or too much jewelry though-- so I'm glad. She explained some things people didn't get-- like breaks. If you work 3 hours or less, no breaks. 3.5 to 4.5 hours is 1 10 minute break, 4.5 to 5.5 hours is 2 10 minute breaks, and and anything above 5.5 is a 30 minute "lunch" and 2 10 minute breaks-- all paid. This coming week, my schedule is as follows:
* Sunday 3-9pm (6 hours! WHOO! I get the works!)
* Monday 2:30-6:30 (4 hours, 1 break) - crap though! I might miss something good at Anime FX! NIICHAN, IF YOU'RE READING THIS, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T SHOW "FUMOFFU" UNTIL THE END!!!!! ;_;
* Wednesday 6-10:30 (4 hours, 1 break). So now you know when I'll be busy! And I make it a habit to leave for work an hour beforehand, especially if I'm taking Muni. Just so everyone knows when I will/won't be home/online.
Sad thing is, Mark isn't going to be there for most of the days I'm working, save for 15 minutes on Sunday. =P Me, I'll be working Concession and Ushering. The first part of that training was today, and I mostly swept the concession area, wiped the counters, and helped get drinks. I was so nervous when all those people started coming in! ;_; Thursday I'll learn to work the registers-- it looks simple enough, since everything's push button, but I have to memorize combos so I don't give someone a too-large drink for a small combo. It's so awkward being behind the counters and have customers looking at you like "Why aren't you working a register?" and I'm all "Eek, I'm new!"
Anyway, so I left around 8:40-- passed by David and Mark (*swoon*) in the box office and headed to get some din-din at Taco Bell. It was kind of hard maneuvering a drink, a taco, and all my stuff, but I pulled it off up until 12th or so avenue-- yeah, I walked from Taco Bell on 6th! Not THAT much of an accomplishment, but hey, it's exercise and a brisk, cool walk in my own neighborhood. I stopped by Cyberhunt (no intimidating people out front this time-- yay) and asked the guy about an account-- everything sounds like a good deal (for $50, I get something like 20 hours. Not 50 hours, but still, a pretty good deal considered, right?). No Lonnie though; if he'd been there, I a) would have spotted him, with his long hair, or b) he'd have heard me. I have a distinct voice, neh? When I mentioned I wanted to play Ragnarok (though it seems like I can do everything there-- maybe even work on my Project!?) these two guys, one tall black dude, and one short, rotund white kid were like "Oh yeah, we'll teach you how to play." The black guy made it sound like he'd dominate the game until it bowed to his very commands. o_O Who knows? I'm not the hardcore gamer type...
Oh, as for co-workers, there's a delightful variety--
* Maria, who likes a lot of the same things I do
* Carolina, who goes to Academy of Art and just exudes an air of "cool"
* Mark, who is hott
* David, Anna, and Claudine, who I all know from school, though not PERSONALLY
My left hand got really hot by the time I got home-- to the point where it felt like I burned it. But I didn't, since I was only handling cold drinks the whole time at the theater. So I thought I might be having a progressive allergic reaction to the kiwi from the tart on Sunday, ORRRR it could have been something in my Tacos-- and I wouldn't have been surprised. But it's gone away since then-- stupid Kaiser put me on hold for so long that I gave up and tried not to think about it. My hand still feels weird, like it's having hot and cold flashes, along with numbness, but... I took Benadryl, so I hope everything'll be okay.
Worked on the |Project| a little bit, messing around in Photoshop-- but I still need some help from outside resources. Getting certain, pivotal parts to work is taking some doing.
Augh, the Benadryl is kicking in... I'm getting sleepy. I'll post one more thing in a community, then I'm off for the night-- and probably most of tomorrow too, since I have to do the laundry and then meet people at 5:30 tomorrow. Have a good night, everybody! :)
