This is getting frustrating. So I finally find the Live Programming schedule on the Fanime Website, and I'm merrilly copying down everything I need to know for what I want to do. Looks like I'm going to be pretty booked. I'm already sacrificing a lot of stuff due to time overlaps; for example, one Para Para panel looks to be a hell of a lot longer on Saturday than the one on Friday; the Saturday one overlaps the Fanfiction Panel at 4pm, so I'm ditching that. But then, Fanboy Bebop, while I really want to see it, might overlap the time needed to line up and head to the place where they're showing the AMV Finals, which is tradition for me to go to. Plus, you know me, I love AMVs. That's from 1-4pm. @_@... I can't go to the ADVFilms panel, and Kaidohmaru overlaps Der Cosplay, which I refuse to miss. So... that's that.
The big problem, of course, is in getting there. So far I've slotted out the following info:
FRIDAY MORNING
Wake up at 7:30am, be out of the house no later than 8:15
Arrive at SF CalTrain by 9:20, get tickets and be on the 9:37 train to Santa Clara
Get off Santa Clara Stn. at 11:01am.
Take VTA Route 60 to Great America
Walk to FanimeCon at Santa Clara Convention Center
Check in, grab lunch, enjoy the con!
SUNDAY EVENING
Herein the problem lies. Most of us (I believe) will want to stick around for the full con, meaning we leave shortly after 5:30. But checkout, as far as I know, is at 12pm. -.- If anyone brings a lot of stuff (or buys a lot of stuff, as I tend to do) then lugging all that around will be a pain, unless I somehow manage to swing a late checkout (which just increases the time to 2pm).
So I'm trying to figure all this out, and it hits me-- with no CalTrains running on Sunday, how the hell are we going to get back to SF? Ah-hah, I think, the busses! The ACE transit! But no, they don't run on weekends either! Okay, so I try to come up with other options-- VTA, walking, SOMETHING-- but nothing's running on Sunday!
I figure if we can JUST get to Fremont, we can hop the Fremont BART and be on our way home. But how to get to Fremont, when the only thing running from Santa Clara there is ACE, and NONE of them run on Sunday! *cries* I can't believe that I was THIS dependent on my Mom for this. I know I'll have to take charge and ask the CalTrain people, if not the concierge what to do. We need to get back to SF.
The only other option I could find is to take Amtrak/Capitol Corridor, which can take us either to Fremont (but then, how to get to Fremont BART from the Fremont Amtrak, when NONE OF THE BUSSES ARE RUNNING!?) or San Francisco (via Emeryville and then an Amtrak bus to San Francisco). So... now what? I'm really stuck here.
Help.
