People Are Nice... Sometimes
Feb. 13th, 2003 11:56 pmToday was one of those mixed bag days. You know, where some things go as you plan, others don't; some are good, some are bad. Yeah, like that. All in all, I guess I'm content though. Besides, it's almost Friday. Friday is Bemani Night, even if it is icky Valentine's Day (and WAFF day too, I better churn out a damn good one-shot when I get home tomorrow) and even if I don't have any money whatsoever. *sigh* I wish I'd won some tokens or something. I have nada. Not even enough pennies to turn into quarters to turn into tokens. Well, I do, but it wouldn't be a lot, anyway.
Mm, let's see first period today I got there late, since I'd pressed snooze on my alarm and then promptly fell back asleep again. ^^; I didn't wake up till 7:00, which is when I'm supposed to leave, so I had to take 10 extra minutes to get up and dressed. Theoretically speaking, I made it to the bus stop at the same time I always do, 7:17, and the bus arrives at 7:23 right on time for me to get to my 7:30 1st period, but today it didn't come till 7:35. *grouse* So I was late, and they were already practicing by the time I walked in, which is always highly embarassing. Worse, our Mass Choir piece is something from "American Idol." I am an AVID hater of all reality shows, and this one just seemed to make things worse. The song sounds nice enough, but I can't bring myself to like (like, truly admire) a songwriter who has people do things for her. If "American Idol" is supposed to be the search for true talent in our nation, with "qualified," "honest" judges, then why is it that the people that always get picked are those with so much money and experience in the performing arts? Why don't they ever write their own songs or music? Gaaah. So unprofessional. So Britney-wannabe. I still think all these "pop stars" will die out soon. The song is "A Moment Like This," by Kelly Clarkson, by the way.
Thankfully, Econ wasn't so bad today, because we had a presentation from a somewhat bimbo-headed Arts Institute girl named Christine Cook. She was busy conversing with students for the first ten minutes of class, even after Ms. Gilmore tried to get all of our attention. Finally someone cleared their throat and she looks around, surprised, asking "Oh, are you all waiting for me?" -.- Geez. People are so stupid. There's nut #1. Anyway, AI sounds cool, as do some of their majors. I'm wondering if I could try for AI with a webdesign program, and go to CCSF (and later SFSU) at the same time... Hmm, and there's AIs in New York, too! Whee!
I thought homeroom was in the auditorium today, thankfully it wasn't... though I did get embarassed after telling someone it was... >_> Stupid bulletin got the dates wrong. It's a senior reg to talk about graduation and all those goodies... Mm, I should be getting my yearbook in a few months (I ordered it a long ass time ago and the receipt is still in my locker)... haha, they're advertising it as "Better Cover! More Color!" because last year's abstract silver-and-blue design didn't fit so well with the student body's perception of Wash. *giggles* I wonder what they have in mind this year...? I really have to stock up on pens though. =D I'm ditching the class ring idea, and still have to deal with buying the cap and gown, plus any other accessories... mm, and there's always that damned swim test. Maybe I should try and take it?
Well, 5th period English, I was supposed to get a new teacher today, since Brewer went on sebbatical or whatever, but I remembered I had my ASVAB critique! EEE! Truth be told, even though this test isn't as hyped as the SAT, it means a lot to someone who's serious about a certain profession (like myself) and is trying to get into a specific field of employment. The ASVAB, while military-based, is mainly a vocational test and is similar to employment tests, among other things. Well, my score DID improve the way I wanted it to-- that is, the 5 point difference from last time that kept me from getting a potential journalism job in the military... *sniff* Well, it's all for naught. Sergeant Edwards called me this evening right as I was about to take my nap (my Media Academy class got cancelled because Jessica was sick) and asked me some questions-- of course, one of them was whether or not I had asthma. Peachy, isn't it? I thought just the Marines had that no-inhalers rule. *sigh* Apparently it's the entire friggin' military. For once, I truly hate my body. And to top it off, my damned asthma appointment is tomorrow. I have to EXCERCISE. I really *want* to be in shape, not run out of breath, but it seems I never have a) the time; b) the motivation or c) the resources! And if the weather weren't so damned icky lately, I'd go hike to Land's End to pay a proper tribute to my sister after all these years. To think... all this time passed and I might have never seen the REAL place where she died... Gah. Depressing note, leaving that now.
Yesterday and today I survived without lunch money, amazingly. While on Tuesday Cassie'd lent me $1.25 to get a bagel and a soda, Wednesday she couldn't, so I survived off of something... o_o Can't remember what, though. I'd stayed late after school working on the paper, and today we made some final touch ups on the cover, but we're still deciding on a hook line --"What would George do?" or "What would George think?" I'm for the former, myself, since it's an allusion to the whole "What would Jesus do?" thing. Hehe. Diesel was nice enough to get me a yummerlicious bagel, even though I already owe him for Brown Bag last week. Plus today, Cassie gave me $2, $1 which I gave to Aaron to pay for a $3 slice of delish veggie pizza from Pizza Joint, and $1 (well, $0.65) for a cherry coke to keep me awake (since no food = sleepy Mer). So the current IOUs come out to:
Cassie - $3.25
Aaron - $2.00
Diesel - $2.00 (possibly $3.65, if I pay him back for that bagel)
But I dunno, something seems off about all this. I know my math isn't that great (but hey, I'm learning-- I breezed through my tutoring session today!) but since I borrowed $2 from Cassie today and spent $1.65 of it ($1 towards the $3, Aaron paid the other $2) on lunch... augh! Money = confusing! NEIN NEIN NEIN!
*sigh* So that's bad nut #2. Well the good nut was being able to eat delish food, courtesy of my friends, but all the same, money is something I worry about hugely, almost all the time. People notice too, and it bugs me when it bugs them. >_> So there.
Mm, I finally got the layout for SMRFF up, and WHEE, it looks nice! I messed up and left out the link to the new Time Conversion chart, so I had to go back and redo it for everything... and then the link to the FAQ was screwy, so I had to redo that too. Plus, Waff vs. Taff day is coming up (hence the excuse not to have my idea for a "Comedy Day" on April 1st, April Fool's Day) so I have to make a section for Waff/Taff/Fence Pride (WTF PRIDE!). Blah, and WvT day means AWARDS, which I better get crackin' on NOW... not like I have time though. >_> Plus I still want to a) post something for WAFF day tomorrow, even if it is a brief one-shot songfic; b) work on that co-fic with Siggy, just thinking about it makes me drool; and c) work on that fic I sorta kinda forgot about (sorry Bonnie!!) with Bonnie... the mystical Greco-based fic. Whee! Plus I got inspired for a chapter title for "Perfect World," my newest Star Ocean fanfic... hehe, "Bottom of the Barrel." Either chapter 4 or 5. =P If *anyone* wants specifics/cares to offer to edit... etc. I'd be much obliged... *hont hint WILL*
I'm in a Pretear/Star Ocean mood, too. I have to get writing fics! LOTS AND LOTS OF FICS! Sites to make! Chats to have! AUGH!!! I'm reading Stormie's Peach Girl fic now, which is thus far damn good (as usual) but it's taking me forever because I babble like this. I'm not that tired, but I do have to wake up early, I love my sleep... and Star Ocean will be there tomorrow. I got as far as Linga this time around. I'm now contemplating getting Precis, since I want to see a Precis/Leon ending... but I was tempted to try for Bowman/Celine, despite Celine already having Chris. Mm... @_@ And I wonder if I did that PA in Mars before, with the jewelry store guy and Rena, because apparently it opens up a new thing in Giveaway, but the Prima Guide doesn't mention anything about that... Plus there's also a PA in Herlie I wanna try with the minions of Zand, but they have 6,000 HP EACH! And there's 3 of them. I hope I can still do the PA after I'm done leveling up in the Sanctuary of Linga, but I won't go to Lacour (where the people will be taking refuge) until later. Too much to do. =P
*cough* Yes, so anyway... it is kinda late, and I wanna wake up early and take a nice hot shower. =D Mom's not going to work tomorrow, so I also have to make my lunch... and since we're off Monday, she's off too. But that won't stop me from having people over, oh no! And I'm still going to Gene's birthday party, AND the Parade! RAIN OR SHINE! Damnit, I'm loyal, and I keep my promises! Dedication! I HAVE IT! Now I'm going to go dedicate myself to my pillow.
And for the record, my hands smelled like latex because I wore gloves while cleaning the fish tank. Go ahead, YOU try dealing with fish shit without wanting to wear them. Yeesh. Yuck.
