GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH! *takes a deep breath* GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Today, I go crazy. I have so much stuff to do, and probably not enough time to do it in. ;_; I leave in two weeks. Yes, it's official, Grandpa called me last night and told me my flight details for the 23rd. So I have between now and then to get EVERYTHING done. Everything means:
* Changing my address - go to post office today with form
* Getting a new doctor and making sure prescriptions are sent to the new address - Gotta call Kaiser today
* Making sure I don't get dropped from my classes - Call CSUN Cash Services
* Getting the correct address to send the GoldenState form to - Call Financial Aid Services
* Revising my FAFSA so I can get Work Study - Online??? Can I even do this so late in the year?
* Laundry - This weekend
* Finish packing - Putting together my PS2, games, video tapes, VCR (there isn't one down in LA), etc. etc.
Plus I have to help Mom organize all the shiz we're going to give away, and hopefully we can have a garage sale of sorts. It'd be a dream come true if I could make $70+ and mod my PS2 before I go; Sean's right, I really don't need the DMS3, even if it is all-region capable... I do want to get Japanese DVDs though... >_> But still $70 vs. $120? What's more likely that I'll scrounge up with what I have to sell? Then again, I do have Beanie Babies, Barbies, and eBay! :DDD
I still have loads of CDs to burn and things to put together... this is going to take a while. I really wish I had some help, but for the time being, I'll have to make do (make due?) with my stereo, a few good CDs, and whatever carbs I can derive from Buttermilk bread! :DD
Let's see... Yesterday I met up with Steph and Tobey to go to the zoo on Wild Wednesday! I'm making up this name for it, it's just free on the first Wednesday of the month, and who knows who it's sponsored by. In any case, we agreed to meet, initially at 1:30, but then it got bumped to 2:30 because both of us were going to be late.
Anyway, I grabbed the 5 to the 18 (and nearly got lost at Safeway too, since I didn't know which 18 to catch) and read my Writer's Guide to Everyday Life in Renaissance England. Nifty stuff in there-- when I get to writing TRC again, it'll certainly be more vivid and historically accurate. *giddy* Got off at 47th and Sloat, and walked down to the entrance-- loads and loads of school kids, all on their summer trips... plus, being a block from the beach, it was FREEZING! I walked all the way through the crowds to the gates, but still no sign of Steph-- I left her a message, and just waited, reading.
Eventually, Steph called me, but I guess because of the wind (or maybe my shriveled up brain), I couldn't understand what she said-- something about Tobey being on her way and eating? I thought that meant Tobey was eating at home, or would pick up something to eat prior to meeting me at the zoo gates. Wrong. Anyway, I walked all the way back through the crazy crowds and over to the Doggie Diner-- Steph and I waited in line for a bit before Tobey joined us. I used my last $4 to snag a corn dog and a Pomegranate and Blackberry Juice Squeeze-- weird taste, but I still like Wild Berry better.
I was kind of irritated since not only did it take so long for Tobey to show up, but eating took a while... if the zoo wasn't free, I wouldn't have been able to go at all. With my knee still giving me occasional trouble, I didn't like all the walking, but since I hadn't been to the zoo in nearly 12 years (or more!) I didn't say anything. We chowed down for a while, talked about random stuff... Tobey ended up getting another meal --this gigantically messy chili dog with Velveeta poured all over it. Yuck, yuck, yuck. She's such a tomboy! ^^;
Well anyway, we finally went to the zoo (Steph was busy filling out my Slambook the whole way there, which reminds me-- anyone that has not yet signed my Slambook, get your arse over here!) and started wandering-- first we saw some giraffes and these really bizarre birds whose necks were so long, they arched down to the ground, where they ate seeds and stuff. It was scary-- they looked like they didn't have any heads, just... bodies with hoses coming out of them. Giraffes are also pretty fast on their feet, you know?
We wandered past some more pens-- the zoo is getting pretty empty; places being remodeled or constructed, animals dying or moving... It's kind of sad. From there, we swung by the primates and saw the gorillas. There was this insanely loud woman who kept yelling (and I mean yelling) at the top of her lungs to one of the female gorillas on the rock-- "HAAAAAARRRRY!!" and explaining that anything that hairy must be named "Harry." What retardedness. From there we stopped by the Big Cat pens-- lions, tigers... all of them were asleep. But we weren't that far off from the Feline Conservation Center, which is off the beaten path of all the other trails.
You had to be quiet in there; it was sort of serene compared to the craziness of the rest of the zoo. It was hard to spot anything though; the Ocelots were hidden, probably because they were sleeping. We caught a glimpse of the uber-cute Fishing Cats, which look like house cats, but have fur similar to an otter's (we saw them, too! I love otters~). Yep yep, many cats. There are those cats with SUPER LONG tails-- kind of snowy looking, but very cute and pretty. Aside from some kid being annoyingly loud with his fake meows, it was a good walk. -.- Frankly, I think I can talk to cats. Call my crazy, but any time I've meowed at a cat, it has looked at me and carried on meowing right back. I don't know what I'm saying, but I can speak Cat. :P So there.
And did you know that peacocks are whiners? They go around strutting with their pretty blue bodies and bouncy little hair feathers, plus those gigantic tails of theirs, acting like they own the place. And when people look and stare, they preen-- or run away, just so the "stupid humans" will give chase. And then when no one's around anymore, they whine-- SO LOUDLY. It doesn't even sound like a bird. Many peacocks just wandering around the zoo, like, "Eh, whatever, I'm a peacock, so I have RIGHTS."
We swung back by the tiger cage-- I'd heard them wake up (and I believe I heard a roar of sorts). BIG KITTY! But like those long-tailed ones back in the conservation center, ALL the cats did was pace. Pace, and turn, and pace and turn... I swear, they were robotic! Or models in a past life or something, yeesh. They have all this space to run and romp and play in (well, not a lot of space compared to the wild), and they just PACE. Must be annoying to be a cat stuck in a place like that, with people ogling them all day long.
Anyway, the zoo closed at 5pm, so we had to skedaddle-- there didn't seem to be any definitive plans for what to do afterwards, so when an 18 stopped on Sloat, we all got on. Steph kept filling out my slambook, and between reading and talking to Tobey, it wasn't long before we switched to Geary. We caught one soon enough, and before long, we hit Park Presidio --my stop. Still nothing to do afterwards; I just grabbed my Slambook back from Steph, since she'd finished it, and I got off. o_O I didn't see any point in sticking around, being broke and all...
I still have loads to do... I want to get as much done online as I can before hopping off to burn CDs, print labels, and finally go out and get stuff done. So I better jet...
