I am a Gauntlet Adventurer.I strive to improve my living conditions by hoarding gold, food, and sometimes keys and potions. I love adventure, fighting, and particularly winning - especially when there's a prize at stake. I occasionally get lost inside buildings and can't find the exit. I need food badly. Beer-flavored beef. Yumm... Haha, kidding.
Blehhhhh... must make deck. Must watch Japan: Lost Empire. Must be in bed by 10 to wake up on time to meet Rochelle for her birthday thing tomorrow at 12. I don't have a gift, though. I've been penny-pinching as best I can, and plus she said she was doing something with her mom... Gaugh. I don't want to borrow money from Mom. I wonder if there's something I can throw together-- OOH! COOKIES! :DDD I should just start baking for all my last-minute presents. I can make those little kiss-cookie things. :D

I'm so into Alice music these days. I've even got 900 (whoop-de-doo) Rewards Points. But hearing Maroon 5's "This Love" on Alice got me to download it. I love that song! It's so going on my next Turkey Compilation!
And you know what, the damned Priest Set thing still pisses me off. People are perfectly permitted to go by the romanized name of someone in a Japanese series. More power to them. If you call the Pharaoh "Atemu," then go ahead and call the High Priest "Seto." You can also call the Pharaoh "Atem," because ATEMU is NOT PROPER EGYPTIAN. Neither is KALIMU or MAHADO or ISHIZU. The proper pronunciation of these names is Kalim, Mahad, and Isis. And guess what, ladies and gents? You can call the high priest SETO or SET. Either is correct. But be aware that Set is the name of an Egyptian God, and Priests did NOT take the names of Gods back in the day. Plus, Set was not, in every aspect of Egyptian culture especially in the period cited to be Atemu's time (Middle Egypt), a GOOD GUY.
But, since he's Egyptian, and every priest's name has something to do with an Egyptian background (And add onto the fact that Takahashi actually stated he named Kaiba after the god Set.), he's Set.
WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG! You know, that might be true, if it weren't WRONG! *takes deep breath.* I don't want to let this piss me off, but it is! Isis and Seto are the only ones with remotely plausible connections to actual historical Egyptian information. Find me something regarding Akunadin, Atemu, Shada, Shaadi, Shimon, or any of the others, and CITE BIBLIOGRAPHICAL EVIDENCE and I will PAY YOU. And will people stop going around saying "Kazuki said this, Kazuki said that." WHERE!? If you think he said something, SHOW ME THE PROOF!
So here's how it works-- if you call him Seto, then use Atemu, Ishizu, or whatever fits your fancy. That's using the Japanese pronunciation. You can use the actual Egyptian pronunciation, which would be Set, Atem, and Isis. BUT! SHOCK! Seto is actually a viable Egyptian name. Yes, Egyptian names ended in I and O, but NOT U or A or E! And until someone actually shows me SOLID proof that Kazuki Takahashi said that the name Seto is a direct relation to the name God's name "Set" (and no, I do not mean "the character is based upon" or the "story is drawn from"), then I WILL NOT BELIEVE IT. The proper way of romanizing Set's name in Japanese is Setto, for the final emphasis on the t.
Bah. I hate having this argument again. It started a bitch war before, and it might start a bitch war now. I wish all the fangirls would stop citing THAT as the reason for badfics. Pharaoh "Yami" is one thing, but don't whine about "Atem vs. Atemu" or "Seto vs. Set." THEY ARE THE SAME PERSON. GET OVER IT!
That's it. I'm going to take all my rage out on Seto now. YEAH, YOU HEARD ME.
SETO. S-E-T-O!
Bite me.

Eww...
Date: 2004-05-27 05:20 am (UTC)Oh and I think you mentioned something about sororities before? Something about a book called "Pledged"? Yea, I was in a club that was structured like a sorority and because of it, I met a lot of sorority girls and they aren't all that bad. Just that the media has a negative image of them because a few sororities are actually full of giggly, pink-clothed, air-headed girls (and some with the snobby kind). But the majority aren't like that... besides, they have to be nice people or else no one would come to their socials! Frats, on the other hand, are a different story, especially if they're not linked with the school because then they won't need to follow any rules at all.
