How It All Went Down

Wow, it's only Saturday night and this "weekend" has already been great! ^_^ Everything I was so nervous about ended up concluding incredibly well, and I'm quite happy-- but as it turns out, I'll be majorly busy from here on out. @_@; Guess I better enjoy this "relaxation" while I can. First off, I went to dinner with Brooke and Shaina (my cousins) at Benihana, and it was their treat, so it was like "dinner and a show" for free. They'd gotten lost in the Sunset somehow on their way to my house (blame it on Mapquest) and so I had to move our reservation at Benihana (I made it spur of the moment when I'd called to see if they'd be open at 8) from 7pm to 8pm-- I played 5th Mix in the meanwhile until they arrived around 7:40-- we said hi, but when I told them the reservation was at 8pm, we pretty much left immediately. So we drove to Japantown and parked in the garage, making it just in time for our reservation-- we only had to wait a few minutes, so we sort of talked some about what we'd missed in each other's lives (a lot, and not much we covered in those few minutes, but I did get some of the juicy details of Brooke's engagement) and such.
It took the chef his sweet time to finally get to the table, so Brooke, Shaina and I (sitting at a table with an African-American family) had drinks (Brooke amazingly got drunk after a Pina Colada and a Margarita) and some rice. When the chef (strangely Hispanic... in a Japanese restaurant, there are hardly any actual Japanese chefs! I guess they're all Iron Chefs...) arrived, he started out by making shrimp, and there was even a beat while he was cutting their tails off and shifting them off to the side! When he started making the ingriedients for fried rice, he flipped the eggshell into his hat! All in all, it was very amusing, and very delicious. I had the Teriyaki Steak, and I would have ordered in Japanese like Shaina wanted me to, but I chickened out at the last minute. But since they'd gotten to my house late, and preparation for everyone's food took a while, we didn't leave until around 9:40-- too late for me to go to RTA, and around the time they'd wanted to be at Club X over on 3rd and Harrisson. So they drove me to the Metreon, where I called Will and planned to meet up with him, and we parted ways. We did promise each other as we left Japantown to see each other again soon -before Brooke's wedding (I wonder if it will be traditional or Jewish?) in September. Her wedding, by the way, is in Fresno, where I've never been before... so it should be "interesting," to say the least. We all took Purikuras (they didn't know what they were!) and I had a crepe which I shared with Brooke (she was so tempted to eat the whole thing when I went upstairs to get change for a $5) and we said we'd all have to go shopping here in the city sometime together. It all sounds fun, anyway.
At the Metreon, there was no one I knew for a while, so I played initial D-- and I beat Iketani! For all you non-Japanese, non-initial D players, I beat the first guy on the first course (Myogi) of the racing game Initial D (the D stands for "drift"). When I beat him, it was about my 5th or 6th try...? So I'm very happy about that. =) Not long after that, I decided to play DDR, since no one else was, and the initial D machines were quickly getting crowded. The one closest to the escalators at the Metreon is broken, too-- one side has a loose wheel and bearing, so not only does the wheel spin a full 360, but it rotates in and out while it goes around. @_@; I think the right's side screen is still a little messed up too, but people still play on it. At DDR, I played "Break Down" (grr, messed up at the end!), some other song (can't remember, not so important!) and "Saints Go Marching," which I FULL COMBOED! YESSSSSS!!! I thought "Break Down" would be the first song I Max Comboed, but I like "Saints" too. So maybe now I'll try to PA it! ^_^ Hey, I can dream, ne?
While DDRing, I saw Bryan, and Benji appeared also, then Will. It was so great being happy about winning, I was (and still am!) in such a good mood. =) As trivial as it is, I love the sense of accomplishment that comes with beating a game, even if it's just a tiny fraction of the game, or it's not that difficult compared to what other people do. Will told me he won first place in the DMX tourney at RTA (I told him so! He kept on worrying about not winning, but he won!! FIRST!!) so I was very happy for him-- very surprised too, when he said Fred hurt his hand and messed up, losing a high combo to Dez! *shock!* I think Jimmy placed 3rd, too. @_@; All very amazing.
So this coming Friday I have my Playathon (crap! MUST GET PLEDGES! I have some from Marcella, Kripa, and Ms. Victoire already... but I need ones from RTAers, maybe...) where I'll stay at school on Friday night and Saturday, SINGING the whole time... ~_~; The following Thursday is my concert (are you coming!? Take the poll in my AIM subprofile to let me know... it's 7:30 on 3/13 -Thursday- and it's only $5!) which will entail a preview of all the songs my choir will sing at Anaheim... so I'm pretty nervous, since time is just flying by. But I have most of the songs -"Texian Boys," "Two Latin Motets", "Moment Like This..."- I have to work on memorizing "Amazing Grace" and "Kalinka," the latter of which is in RUSSIAN! EEPS! What if I pronounce something wrong!? There's also those two Native American Springs Songs "Behind Every Thunder" and "Summer in the Spring" (I think that's the title...). Plus there's "Pavane for Spring," too, which is so damn hard because of those "lauuuuuud"s!
So Will came home with me to stay over --Jimmy and Cris were on the bus too, but we didn't talk to them much, and it was kind of awkward for me to be sitting in front of Jimmy when I'm still somewhat mad at him. But I guess he's fine with it, so I'm just going to move on. Blah, holding grudges and the like isn't good for the soul. We played Star Ocean 2 most of the night, and Will helped me beat Decus and Vesper (THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!) and got me that much closer to the end of the game! *all excited* Yatta! The next morning (today) he wanted to wake up early, but we hadn't gone to sleep until around 4am-- so I was zonked when the alarm went off in all its annoyingness at like... 9:30. @_@; Even sleeping on the floor in the bright living room, I was so comfy... ~_~
But I was shifting between awake and sleepiness, so when I finally got up, I made oatmeal, which Will had apparently never had before. It's sad to have so much delish cereal and not (want to) eat it because of some stupid Skim Milk (yuck!). We'd used a 1/4 of a cup the previous night on Macaroni and Cheese, so... yeah. Played more Star Ocean 2, and after Mom left to go to the park and the hardware store, we started Will's "midterm" --making Spritz cookies! They're actually a lot harder than people give them credit for, but Will did a fantabulous job (the crunchier cookies were my fault, because I forgot to set the timer for the oven) and with the M&Ms we'd bought last night, they were really yummy. They're the kind of cookies you need to drink something with though. @_@; So much vanilla and almond flavor... sort of. The extracts, anyway. He even made little man-shaped ones. Hehe. So he put them all in those cupcake holders and into a pair of plastic cookie containers. One we gave to his Mom, and the other's here at my house. Hehe, my little protoge has done well... ^_^ For his next "semester," we'll move onto bigger lunches and dinners. I think he's got Pancakes, French Toast, and cookies down well.
We arranged to meet up with Will's mom at Mervyn's around 4pm, so once my mom got back and relaxed a little (Will kicked my ass at Killer Instinct; I showed him the SMSuperS balloon game) we left to go there... I shopped with Will and his mom, helping him get his outfit for his boat dance this Saturday together. =D I'm sure he'll look hot as heck, but he unfortunately was too shy to do any modeling =P I got gypped! But I am so bringing the camera on Saturday... I think I have an idea on what I'll wear... but I want to dress warm, and not bulky, since it *is* on a boat. Hmm... @_@; What would I know, I've never been to a high school dance. Gah. Mom was in a good mood too, shopping for herself, and at the last minute, me too. I got a really cool makeup set, a few shirts, and a new pair of pants (black dress pants! YATTA!). I still need Converse, but those should be cheap, so I'll save those for later if need be. Will and I are both curious as to what Amber will wear to the dance though... hmm hmmm *speculate imagine wonder dream* hmmm...
After Mervyn's, Will and I went to RTA -both our moms went home; mine went to a birthday party of her friend's at 8pm- and played some initial D... I tried to play DDR, but did poorly compared to last night. I blame it on my pants, which are so wide-legged and baggy that I kept slipping. For once, it wasn't the damn shoelaces coming undone on my sneakers like they usually do! Hmph. I didn't beat Itsuki (Iggy) on initial D either, but I came close a few times... hehe, and Will said I had good turns. ^///^ So I'll keep trying. When Amber arrived with Fred, Francisco, and that other guy that's been showing up with them lately (I'm sorry, I don't know his name!) we hung for a while, but it wasn't for long-- they'd gotten there kind of late, and both Will and I had to get home. In my case, I was tired and hungry; Will just had to be home, because he was late. It sucks that I couldn't watch more initial D, but hey, I can either get my DVD ROM repaired or pray that someone will get me a PS2 for my birthday (if I go to LA for my birthday -since Passover is two days after my bday- I stand to get that $200 from my grandparents... if not my other relatives that "owe me" for not having any contact with me whatsoever in the past two years...). Maybe. I still don't know if I'll go -if anyone will even pay for my ride there, via plane or train- or if I'll be comfortable... blah blah. In the future. If there's anything to REALLY look forward to, it's Fanime. I still need to get cosplay parts... I'll check out the downtown Levi store for that overall-styled dress, too.
Hmm... yeah. I'm starting to get tired from the In-N-Out #2 (and I'm still shocked by Vince saying he had a 16x16 two New Years' ago!) I had... they packed it to-go very badly though, and Will was hungry, so we shared, getting our hands all messy and covered in that strange sauce. I had a Barq's, which I remembered wasn't caffeinated. Blah. I want orange soda, like Sunkist! I used to drink that all the time before I converted to Cherry Coke. =) Anywho, after In-N-Out, Will and I took the 47 home-- I got off one stop too late and had to walk up to the 5 stop. But now I'm home-- after getting stuck between the damn bus doors. Stupid bus. I'm kinda sore, but I'm sure it's nothing a good night's sleep won't cure.
I hope I still have tomorrow to deal with my FAFSA and CalGrant, especially if I need them by 3/03 to get federal financial aid for college. I have to go, if not in Fall (summer is for making up credits and maybe some GenEd at CCSF) then in Spring *solemn nodding* Yup yup. So there's that tomorrow, not to mention doing my laundry (it's WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY overdue) and making my first attempt at the Cave of Trials. I wonder who I should equip with the Funny Slayer...? Gah.... tired. I'll have to save checking the boards and such for tomorrow. I'll check that Midnite Runner and NationStates thing now, but after that, BED!
Night everyone...~! =D
