You can't cheat with strategy guides
May. 3rd, 2004 05:15 pmI'm not cheating by using the FFX-2 strategy guide. o_O I'm just being smarter than I would WITHOUT it. And in all honesty, it's not the best strategy guide ever. I don't think one really exists, unless the makers of the game themselves write and publish it. Such is not the case for the FFX-2 guide.
Anyway, so I got up to Bevelle, where you first look for Vegnagun-- I breezed through the Highroad then went about messing with the lifts to get to the basement. Which was a pain in the ass. And when I finally figured everything out and got my way around, I had to get perfect timing for that whole "piston" machine, so you could get these two whack accessories-- Bloodlust and Wring. ^_^ I got 'em after a few tries, which was great; I was about to give up.
o_O Thing was, I had spent HOURS last night with the security watchtowers in the upper basement, trying to get to the bottom corridor where you get this "stellar" Ribbon accessory. And no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't align the platforms properly. I ended up playing the two bosses OVER AND OVER again. I got up to Level 35 or something before I finally just said "Screw it" and I went to sleep... but I attempted to play again in the morning (I didn't shut the PS2 off, hehe)... to no avail. Why couldn't the damn guide just use the glyphs in front of the towers to mark them, rather than LETTERS!? >_< They could say "go from (glyph pic) to (glyph pic) and fight (boss)."
Anyway, because of all that accidental leveling up I did, I'm almost done mastering Paine's Warrior dressphere, and all the other girls have their special dresspheres ready and at 25%+ mastery! As for the others, Yuna is a fantastic Gun Mage and White Mage, and Rikku makes a decent Black Mage and Dark Knight. I killed Baralai and Bahamut so fast, I was like "O_O *blink* What did I do??"
I got stuck again at the beginning of Chapter 3; I have to win at Sphere Break, and you know what math does to my brain. Stupid quotas and echoes. >_<
Anyway, it looks I've started another flame war! Whee. I still hate tweens, by the way. The rage continues:
Ok, I agree with Akina Tori...I have an account and FF.net too and I loved reading COYAs I went on line one day to find most of them gone. POOF. I mean I don't see what's so wrong about them. And don't reply to this with the "BREAKING THE RULES" bullshit. Because I NEVER read anything against them. And if you say, "You didn't read it close enough"well shove it up your ass. And why are you even taking time out of your life to read everyone sentance down to the punuation marks!?! Jeez, fine something better to do with your lives! And yes, you people got a nice little army against CYOAs here...*looks around in fake intrest* too bad its going to get its ass kicked Pluto....maybe if your lucky Uranus.... My friend Lone Lunar Wolf worked her ass off to create one of the best CYOAs currently with 165 pages! Then they up and took it off! It was fine before! Then all the sudden..WHAM..delete. Well congrats. YOU PISSED PEOPLE OFF!!!! WOOHOO! And what do you win? A one way trip to Uranus! *shoves entire COYA hating army into a rocket and sends it the plant with the wrong name* SAYONARA SHIT HEADS
She couldn't even abbreviate Choose Your Own Adventure properly. *shakes head* What are kids coming to these days? I already replied:
Another case of sheer immaturity. If you want to complain about your stories being taken off FFnet, then WHY DON'T YOU TALK TO XING? He runs the site, he owns the site, he decides what is ALLOWED on the site.
And you know what? Rules exist for a reason. When I read fanfiction, I DO read it sentence by sentence, letter by letter. And punctuation, grammar, and spelling make ALL the difference in the world between a well-thought out, well-written fic that is legible, understandable, and has continuity to the MASS MAJORITY of CYOA fics that have NO thought behind them whatsoever other than to pair the reader with one of the bishounen.
GET YOUR OWN WEBPAGE IF YOU WANT TO POST THAT STUFF! It DOES NOT BELONG ON FFnet.
Ugh, next time you want to try and make an argument, do yourself a favor and SPELL CHECK. It might give yo ua few more intelligence points.
I tried to stay calm and mature, but I snapped part of the way through and started posting in caps. Shame on me.
And then the infamous tween brat who started it all is back-- I was in the middle of typing a reply when OE flipped out on me again, so mabe I should wait and see what a decent reply would be.
(insert roll of eyes here) Oh, I am quivering in fear. Oh woe is me.
I certainly know what the hell happened in 1920s, but to be more precise, the reform movement of women pretty much began in the mid-1800s. That's when women started to stand up at podiums and did speeches anyhow they were never meant to speack out to public.
Anyhow I love rambling on and on and on about stuff, I'll continue on topic.
So far I can't point to one now, since you deleted all of them. I could name many, but I have to admit, a few were shitty (wow, that kind of rhymed a little o.o;).
With YYH, I was giving an example of one other CYOA plague section, like someone above said about how POTC section was screwed with so many CYOAs.
The reason people did go and say "Go to chapter 5", because there are no other way to do so.
And with making the site: uh no. FF.net basically has unlimited uploading chapter....stuff, and using up bandwidth isn't on my to-do list for my website. I'm cheap. I don't like paying for a large amount of space to do uploading. I'm not even done with it.
Yep, I'm a foul mouthed teen, slightly proud of that too. It's one way to get out my anger from all of you debasing, degrading, and overall naive insulting twits that have nothing better to do than delete stories of young authors.
Yes, my grammer ain't the best. Yes, I have typos. But I ain't perfect y'know. Nobody's perfect, unless you forgotten that.
I know what I want to tell this girl first off is what I said before-- saying that you're not perfect and you KNOW you have issues with grammar and spelling is NOT an excuse not to bother with them at all. Everyone has to at least make the EFFORT to put something WORTH another person's time on the 'Net, otherwise why bother? If you put shit out, no one's going to read it! Don't pretend you don't care what other people think when you post something even YOU know is bad, because if you really DIDN'T care, why the hell would you post!?
"Spell check all stories and poems. There is no excuse for not doing this. Proofread all entries for grammar and other aspects of writing before submission."

Here's what I just replied with:
-.- I wasn't trying to instill fear in you. God forbid I NEEDED the extra dose of sarcasm with that snarky little line.
I have no idea what you meant when you said I "deleted" something-- topics, comments, or otherwise. I did no such thing, and it has little to do with the subject at hand.
There's a reason why there isn't a CYOA subcategory or format for CYOA fics on FFnet; because they are not allowed. If they were, Xing and his programmers would have designed a way to post such fics so that people wouldn't have to worry about going to the wrong chapter and "making the wrong choice." CYOAs are non-linear, do not abide by the FFnet content guidelines, and as such, are abuse. This is the ONLY point I was trying to make with my post. I never meant to say that EVERY SINGLE CYOA is bad, horrible, and the authors deserve to rot. I'm sure there are some very excellent CYOAs out there, but in reality, I HAVE NOT SEEN ONE.
I don't go around reporting abuse like it's the only thing I have to do. Unlike some people, I actually have a job. I also spend a great deal of time working on my writing and making EVERY POSSIBLE EFFORT to improve it, instead of putting out the first thing I type.
Also, saying you don't want to waste bandwith is NOT an excuse. It simply means you're too lazy to upload a multiple-chapter fic to your own webspace. FFnet runs off several servers and GB worth of bandwith. And some of us DO pay to support the site-- so we can see decent fics that bother to follow the rules. There are plenty of freeservers out there that allow a great deal of bandwith, and provided you make the attempt to format the fics properly, bandwith is NEVER an issue. FFnet is hit by millions of people each day, looking at hundreds of thousands of fics-- I doubt it is the CYOAs in general or ONE particular CYOA fic that suck up so much bandwith.
There are plenty of other people out there that take the time and effort to make their own webpages and put their stuff up there; their fics might not be finished either, but they still bother to TRY, and they don't make paper-thin excuses.
Try not to use too many big words in a sentence in a vain effort to make yourself look intelligent; a naive person wouldn't be responding to you in this fashion. I'm also not insulting you; if you recall, you were the one that insulted ME by saying -what was it?- Oh yes, "Kiss my ass you mother fuckers." Don't try to turn the tables on me when I have said NOTHING against you personally.
Saying your grammar (Spell it right next time, please) and spelling aren't good because you're "not perfect" is not an excuse. Read FFnet's guidelines:
"Spell check all stories and poems. There is no excuse for not doing this. Proofread all entries for grammar and other aspects of writing. 'Hot off the press content' is often riddled with errors. NO ONE IS PERFECT, but it is the duty of the writer to perform to the best of his/her ability."
Finally, no one can go around saying that they know what they're putting out is illegal, bad writing, or just plain OOC as if it's some kind of justification. If you don't care what people think about your stories, then don't post them! You have been satisfied by what you have done, and that is enough. But when you put something on the 'Net for others to read, you are putting yourself, your skills, your talents and abilities, and YOUR WORK in the spotlight. Prepare to get analyzed, dissected, and bitched at-- because the bad comes hand in hand with the good, and while not everyone may appreciate your attempts, a good deal of people will at least TRY to help you improve.
In the case of CYOAs, I don't go around randomly deleting people's stories as if I have nothing better to do. I read the fics-- and if they abuse FFnet's guidelines --usually more than one, as CYOA alone is not justification enough to delete a fic-- THEN AND ONLY THEN will I report it.
End of story.

Gawd, I WANT TO... I don't know what. Hunt these twits down and slam an Oxford's English Dictionary on their heads, maybe! All hundred thousand pages, right into their little empty skulls! AUGH!!!!!!
Breathe Mer, breathe.
*wince* HOW CAN I, WHEN RYOU JUST POSTED SOMETHING THAT IMPLIES HIS YAMI BEAT HIM!?!?!?!?!? Gawd that is so... >_< MAKE IT STOP!
I need some goodfics!!!!!! *cries*
BEA has 98 members. 2 wallpapers, and one more special fanart from Thallein. Maybe the next layout should be fanart-based, kind of like how BEA's first/current layout was based off the one Mamono sent me? But I need a color scheme so I know what to look for-- and I'd prefer the fanart be something submitted to BEA, since stealing Japanese fanart isn't nice. :P A lot of the art on Janime is great, but it's either Seto alone or Anzu alone. :P Very few of them together... which is sad.
