Just the cards...
May. 1st, 2004 08:10 pmWhoo! That went a lot better than I thought! I got to SFSU by 2:40 *and* had enough money to buy a snapple to keep me awake... I'd fallen asleep on the bus (a mere 20 minute ride, but I still felt pretty rested) and got off right on time! Anyway, the testing room was in the business building (I got ganged up on by a bunch of teachers once I entered. It was pretty scary.) and in a nice room. 90 minutes for 50 questions... and I used them ALL up.
X_X The first part was pretty easy, and I was like "Wow, I remember this stuff" but towards the end, with questions 40+, I started thinking "Okay, if this were an English test question, it would go 'If this is Here and that is There, then what is the price of Coconuts in Timbuktu a week from Sunday?' Seriously, some questions didn't make any sense. So I abided by the old guessing method-- and "when in doubt, pick C." So I did. ^^; I hope I got at least 45 right... I don't want to take too many remedial courses in math! One will be fine, thank you!
I came straight home, and now... here I am. Talking with Harley and Mamono in chat, catching up on fics, RPG, and this whole Yu-Gi-Oh R thing. I'll probably have sort of newsie post about it later, but for now, what I can tell is this:
* R stands for Renewal.
* The full title is "Yu-Gi-Oh Koku R" -- though what "Koku" means, I don't understand. The character is the one used in words like 'national' and 'government.' o_O
* It's based off Duel Monsters 8: Reshef of Destruction, which is the sequel to the GBA game "The Sacred Cards" and the Battle City tournament. So everything up till then has occurred, Atem is still around, etc. The thing is, the game takes place YEARS after Battle City... and we all know that in the manga, Battle City ended, and barely a few months later, the Memory World arc started.
* Oh yeah-- the art is NOT DONE BY KAZUKI TAKAHASHI. It's supervised by him, but it's done by a new guy.
* And it won't come out weekly, like the original did in Weekly Shounen Jump. It'll come out monthly, in V-Jump. The first issue is June 04, coming out later this month in Japan, and reaching US/Japanese bookstores probably by the 26th or so.
* w-cat seems to think Pegasus is still alive. She claims to have read the first edition, which is a load of bull since it's not even out yet-- June V-Jump hasn't been released to Japan yet. There have been preview chapters floating around, but I doubt something as big as Pegasus' return will factor into this... *shrugs* Or maybe he will, if it's based off a GAME that kept him alive. But as far as I know, Pegasus is DEDD.
At least, in the manga he was. In the game, he is indeed back, and wears an eyepatch... but he changed his hair? (Why would Peg DO THAT!?)

Even if Pegasus wasn't clearly killed by Bakura in the anime (JPN), I'm pretty sure he was in the manga. o_O I need to get that volume just to be sure, though... Volume 15. Pojo's guide isn't that descriptive. :P
"NOTE: Although he was killed by Yami Bakura in the manga, Pegasus did NOT die in the animé as has been proved by his, albeit brief, return in episode 148." --TVTome.com
By the way, YTV (Canada and I think the UK's distributor of anime) already has the end of Season 3 (Battle City + Noa) dubbed... and they're almost up to the DOOM arc. And yes, it *is* the Doom arc, because "Doma" apparently means something insulting in one of the many existing languages. Besides, doom sounds so much cooler than Doma, anyway.
Well, there ya go. So I don't think Peg will be making a return in YGO R, especially if it's meant to be a sequel to the actual manga, and not just an "Approved Doujinshi" based off the game.
I wanna get a GBA now-- they have one in 'Azurite!' ... which YGO game should I get, though? One with cards... but then, English or Japanese? The Japanese GBA games can be played in English... ^_^
I want to nap and then work on some of my fics. :P I hope Atlantis and Harley get back to me with WDKY soon... *eager beaver* Whee.

Date: 2004-05-02 05:29 pm (UTC)If you don't want to wait that long for the thorough edited version, I can peruse over it and give you some general notes in regard to the fic, sections of it, and an overview of grammar and what you might want to look out for. *That* I know I'll have time to do, but if I go all out, then I know it'll take a bit longer since I go sentence-by-sentence, period and comma to the next period and comma. You know what I mean; afterall, you saw the madness in the shorts that I completely went over for you.
*ponders* Maybe I could be a beta for the shorts and a supervisor on WDKY. I seem to be able to get the shorts back to you more effectively and... well, actually that was the only point I had. Let me know what you think!
P.S. We need to play that teaser game again, where you give me a teaser and then I give you a teaser. I found that I actually have several! They were all hidden away in random places and they made me giddy when I thought of the prospect of writing them down.
Uhm, the second one!
Date: 2004-05-03 07:33 am (UTC)Anyway, the whole supervisor thing sounds great, and if you just want to skim WDKY9, that'd be great-- I would like to get your input. ^_^
And I'd be glad to trade teasers again.
... When is Steam going to be up? *bother annoy pester*
