On Santa Monica Boulevard... Oh wee ooooh
Apr. 11th, 2004 08:09 pmToday, I woke up feeling like I wanted to sleep more. So I did, even though I was on the couch in the living room, surrounded by old antiques and stuff. It wasn't perfectly comfortable, but I was zonked enough to really fall asleep. I woke up several times, but finally got up around 11am... had a nice breakfast with everybody -- fruit, eggs, and an apple turnover leftover from last night.
Sometime later, it was decided that everyone was going to Santa Monica, and I got cajoiled into going along for the ride, with Sally and Joyce. I fell asleep and woke up part of the way into Santa Monica; it was nice since it was warm, but breezy-- I was (am, still, actually) wearing my cherry-and-black sundress, so I had my DCShoe sweatshirt on top. It didn't look great, but I didn't bring a cardigan, like I should have. :P
Turns out the ENTIRE FRIGGIN' Santa Monica Place mall was closed-- not just one store, not just early hours or early closing--- the whole. damn. place. CLOSED. >_< So we walked along the promenade and had some pizza at Mario's on 3rd and Broadway... then we went to the Boardwalk. That was kinda cool-- it was like Santa Cruz, but... well, different. I'd never been before, so it was a first experience. They had an arcade with Extreme, but these two kids totally hogged the machine (and the audience), so I wandered off until I found Initial D ver. 2.
I beat Tak! I haven't played in a while (I played once at the Metreon when I saw "Eternal Sunshine" with Steph and Eva) so I was expecting to lose, but with my Integra I maintained my lead the whole way through the race and I won! ^_^ I got a bunch of upgrades, too. :) I still have to beat him with my Lancer (I was *SOOOO* close), so maybe I'll start playing sporadically again... But Shingo is next for my Integra, and I *HATE* Shingo. He's such a prick.
I wanted to go play Extreme, but the same guy was playing-- he'd been playing with another guy at first, him on Oni, the other dude on Heavy. Both out of my league, obviously, but what made me laugh was Heavy-guy was a wannabe-freestyler, and was trying to do all these hand plants and everything, and he looked like a total dweeb. The same Sir Sweatsalot was on Extreme, relishing in the crowd and his "I'm wearing black and sweating like a mofo"ness, so... no DDR for Mer. My arms felt weird from the racing anyhow, not to mention I was wearing a dress and heels... so I probably would have slipped or klutzed anyhow.
Back at the house now, and going nuts over FAFSA and CalGrant ness... over lunch, I mentioned to Erin (who insists I have the dorm experience, instead of living here with Baba and Grandpa) that I got denied for CalGrant-- and Joyce freaked. But then, I come from a family of two, my mom's a single parent, and she makes something like $35,000/yr. That's WAAAAAY over the "ceiling" according to the SAC.
Geh, and now Kathleen (Dad's girlfriend) is all moody AGAIN, and Dad thinks I said something to her (when I didn't)-- and all I said (to him) was that I didn't want to go home yet (and I overheard her saying she does), and he's all like "Well it's not your choice now, is it?" and blah, I don't have a plane ticket or a car... GRRR. He's all saying that I can't lie to the government and say that I'm independent of them (I'm not) but I sure WISH I was. -.- Gawd, both Mom and Dad act like babies sometimes.
I'm feeling so tired again... like I'm anemic or something. Still no PIN from the FAFSA people, and I exceeded the maximum guessing tries for today. :P Sammy and Josh want to get on the comp (probably to look at paintball supplies... -.-) so I'm going to get off... I really don't have anything better to do.
I did download some raw Yu-Gi-Oh from the DOOM arc, but... I can only understand so much. Anzu and Jounouchi's Japanese voices are cool; if you REALLY think hard, Yami Yugi's sort of sounds like the dub Yugi's as well-- deep and sort of weird. I like Kaiba-kun's voice, even though I haven't heard it in this particular episode. Varon... he pisses me off already. And Mai sounds cool, but when she's all evil... *shudder*
Josh wanted to know about RPGs! Maybe he was being sarcastic, but it was fun describing to him what I do on the DMRPG, and there's even an LJ-RPG for his fav show (!) "The O.C." No one in this family really understands my life or what I do, or why I like what I like... the guy cousins were making fun of Yu-Gi-Oh and DDR earlier. *sigh* And people wonder why I'm not a social butterfly. This is why I'm planning to live with Baba and Grandpa-- other teens just DO NOT understand me.
I want to go to the Mall. I got money earlier today. And I want those How to draw Manga books. ;_;
