Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Dead)
Nov. 18th, 2003 12:52 amOH! What I forgot... again... Hehe... I must have movie-amnesia. Did this with "School of Rock," too. Saw "Kill Bill" last night. The 10:55 show. I came in around 11:10, expecting to walk in near the end of previews, but I guess there weren't any... o_O
Yeah, if I were that little dude in the Chron, I'd be sitting in my chair, clapping. Kill Bill wasn't utterly fantastic... it was sort of like Alice in Wonderland in the sense that you wonder if you'd understand it better if you were drunk or high. ^^;
Couple of things-- 1) Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu both have the WORST Japanese accents I have ever heard. I think Sonny Chiba's character, Hattori Hanzo, was really just flattering The Bride when he told her that her accent was like that of a native. 'Cuz that's BULL. Her accent sucked. 2) The anime sequence wasn't what I expected. It reminded me of "Kid's Story" from Animatrix, with an odd style bordering between anime and realistic.
The narration bugged me. The extent of what The Bride saw and knew... like when she was talking about Gogo, and she said "See what I mean?" when Gogo impaled that ugly guy that was hitting on her. Speaking of death, blood, and gore... I don't understand why people left the movie, claiming it was too gory. I sat in there, without feeling nauseous or needing to look away even once. Yeah, it was bloody, but it was cheesy Hollywood bloody-- on purpose, I think. I mean honestly, blood doesn't spray quite like THAT when you cut someone's limb off.
The movie seemed shorter than it really was... according to my computer, it was supposed to run from 10:55 to 1:00am, but it only ran until 12:45, and that was the END of the credits-- and remember, I walked in late, too! Hmm... The ending DOES piss you off, but you sort of saw it coming. Bill's face and reasons for putting The Bride through hell will have to be revealed, and the remaining members of the Viper Gang will have to die in several prolonged, bloody fights. Yep.
That's Kill Bill. I give it a 3/5.
GAUGH! Trying to burn CDs, but not enough space for the damned temp files! I delete old programs, but the space isn't freed until I restart...? Plus I'm getting tired, bitchy about not working more on WDKY or various images/layouts I want... and there's a whole load of dishes that have to be done before I leave for work tomorrow no later than 10:45 (to get to work by 11:30!) ... I better go to bed now. All that fun stuff I did and bitched about today... from Deck Psychology to going to SFSU and Border's (and running into psyJoe) will have to wait. Sorry...

Hi Mer. :D
o_O
Date: 2003-11-18 02:56 am (UTC)Meh, I've been de-sensitized to the movies. Working in a theater and all... if I'd gone with friends and during hype-time, I might have thought differently. But I guess when you watch it alone, your inner critic comes out and ... yeah. ^^;
i agree
Date: 2003-11-18 08:25 pm (UTC)i agree going to the movies by yourself and with your friends can be a very differnet experience esp. if it's the same movie. I thought Kill Bill was alright...not the greatest piece of Tarantino ever...im more partial to pulp fiction. take care ttyl
