Hey all! I'm finally online and doing all that online stuff that I should be doing... I was so zonked after work yesterday that when I came home, I went right to bed! So I woke up a little after 7:30 this morning, and decided to grab breakfast and watch some TV. I watched Dr. Phil and the Price is Right after catching up on the news, and after some light "Nancy Drew" reading, here I am! :) Good morning.

Okay, so let's catch up, shall we?

As you guys know, the festivities were planned to start out at 5pm-- and by 4:15, I was worried about not having heard from Joe-- after all, it was his party (for the most part; Mark was having his birthday too, but I didn't find out about this until after I'd offerred Joe to use my house). So I called him up, and he told me that they ("they" being him and a few other people-- Helen, Richie, and a few others, I think) were on their way! This left me with no time to prep for anything, or even jump into the shower! He didn't even call me when he left! So I rushed into the shower and managed to make it out in record time, wearing the dress I'd had at the wedding (which was kind of a mistake, now that I think about it... Mom was right, everyone was dressed a LOT more casually than I was, and it was awfully awkward when I hugged anyone).

People arrived slowly, PsyJoe, Vince, Jimbo, God... it wasn't really a huge party, now that I think about it-- Helen was mostly playing Pop N' Music most of the time (the rest she was sleeping)... so I really felt like the only girl there. >_< We never did get around to playing "Clunopoly" (Clue+Uno+Monopoly) or Hilarium, but we did play a few rounds of Uno, and we did get pizza from Extreme. PsyJoe was nice enough to make a run to the Safeway and get sodas, chips, and sour cream, so we were well appetized (er, does that make any sense?). I loved having Doritos and sour cream again! Yumm! Hardly anyone had anything alcoholic to drink, despite the presence of vodka (a smidgen I found in the pantry-- I didn't even have any! I'm proud of myself. ^.~), among other things. But people had fun making Italian Sodas with my raspberry Torani syrup and the abundance of club soda I had. The worst part of the night was trying to figure out how much money to give for the pizzas-- damn evil math! It's a tool of the Negaverse, I tell you!

We stayed awake until after 4am, mostly because of Otaku no Video and my insistence to watch Fumoffu before God and Vince headed out for the night. They couldn't come to SVGL the next day, because Vince had to cart his dad around, and God had to do... other stuff? *shrugs* I would have stayed out in the living room too, where Richie, Helen, Jimbo, and Joe were sleeping, but... well, snoring gets to me. :P I went to my own room.

Come 11am or so the next morning, I'm getting incessantly paged on my cell phone (damn annoying music) -- though I couldn't find any NEW short messages. I was too sleepy to understand the commands on my browser, anyway. I flopped back to sleep, but when I finally woke up after 12, I tripped over Pook (the stuffed Corgi I got Joe) in the hallway, with a note near him that said 'Good morning.' o_O People didn't want any special breakfast (and there was a crapload of dishes to be done, so I had a bowl of Rice Krispies with strawberries, while everyone else had leftover pizza. People played video games for a while, then we cleaned up-- it was after 3:00 when we finally headed out to SVGL.

We got there a little over an hour later, because we stopped at the In-N-Out in Sunnyvale-- where, for the record, the people working there are stupid, annoying, suburbanites. ;P Not only did the people make a big deal about Jummy ordering a secret menu item, but the cashier didn't count back my change correctly, and gave me a dollar in DIMES! ARGH! Worse (and this is just funny), she gave Joe back $15 for a meal he'd paid $5 for! So when I wanted fries later, they weren't on "him," they were on In-N-Out! :D Haha... They annoyed me to the point of wanting to punch though, when they ALL converged on us as we were finishing up eating and cleaning up, mopping up the area where we had been sitting, and the bratty cashier actually had the nerve to say "Beep beep" instead of "excuse me!" *strangles* IDIOT!

*sigh* Oh yeah, there was a whole PT Cruiser Parade on the way to SVGL-- it was almost frightening. Most of them were decked out in various cool ways, one was white with a flame motif, even on its lights! Very cool! Richie thought he was being stalked. ;P Finally we arrived at SVGL-- I wanted to play minigolf, but it was still hot out, and I hadn't brought any sunscreen. So we went inside and played video games for a while-- the arcade was a lot smaller than I thought! But I still had fun... let's see, I played... Joust (old school fun! reminded me of Dodge City), Bubble Bobble (harder than I thought), Killer Instinct (lousy graphics, and the game was rigged), Area 51: Site 4 (played that for TOO long... damn addictive aliens), DDR Extreme (friggin' 4 -or was it 5?- stages! I was so tired!), Bust-A-Move (died eventually), Ghosts & Goblins (more old school fun! But I kept dropping my coins while I was playing, which pissed me off), and Mr. Driller (got 5 high score spots, including #1 for the India map! Though it's "Cairo," so shouldn't it be Egypt?)! Lastly was my favorite game, yet another game in the Ultracade system-- Klax! You take these blocks that roll down a board and catch them-- then drop them to form rows, columns, or diagonals of a certain number of the same color. The more blocks in a row, or in a particular formation, the more points you get! I got all the way to the 7th wave before we went minigolfing.

o_O Once again though, people didn't have enough money to pay for minigolf (didn't I tell people to bring money!? Yeesh), so Joe and I ended up paying for it all. But it was fun-- hilariously so. A lot of the holes were a pain in the ass, and so we agreed not to take more than 6 over par if we couldn't get it in. I actually got a hole in one for one! Many of the holes were rather creative, but on one, I was trying to avoid a ball hitting me, and I tripped and fell backwards onto the concrete! I'm lucky I didn't have a concussion or anything, but I was lying there like a crab or a turtle on its back, laughing my butt off the entire time. It was quite sad. And the number of times our golf balls went flying into weird places-- from water, to bushes, to other holes? It was funny. We finished later on, and then went to this place called Spoons for dinner. I swiped a bunch of Kid's Menu placemats to draw on, and we all chattered about various stuff... the ribs smelled so good, but pork makes me sick, so I can't eat them. *sniff* Whatever happened to Prime Rib, huh? That's steak! I had pasta alfredo instead, and ate almost all of it- it was delicious! I paid for my meal, while Joe fielded for everyone else (how nice of him, even though it was HIS birthday!) -- everyone else being Helen, Richie, and Jimbo. Like I said, they were the only ones that stayed, and could fit in Joe's car (though "fit" might not exactly be the correct word...). We went home later on, and I was the first one dropped off. ;) Now, here I am!

Whew, that was a lot. Uhm, am I forgetting anything? Guess not... onwards to work yesterday!

So I had to show up around 3:00pm, and thanks to MUNI (where this is a sarcastic thanks or not, I'm not entirely sure) I JUST made it on time-- and I was paranoid, given that this was the first day of work with no training! I was trying to be as calm as possible, so I clocked in, got my assignment, put my stuff in the break room, and headed up to the 7th floor. I was working with David and Linda that day, but they weren't exactly the best company. It was bad enough that I missed seeing Mark at ticket drop (for the mere 15 minutes he would have been there before he got off work), but I didn't get to work with Maria or Carolina, two of the only people among my group that a) talk to me and b) I can stand.

There was a screening of Underworld, I believe, or some other movie, so people were in a big line... and there were some people filtering around, waiting for Once Upon A Time in Mexico to start. Also on my floor was S.W.A.T, Secondhand Lions, and Seabiscuit. I think Underworld was in House 12. o_O I got the first few customers, and most of them were pretty nice-- some of the others had it much worse. There was even this cute guy in a green shirt that really smiled when I did (I made it a point to smile at everyone I saw; a lot of people smiled back!) and thanked me by name! ;D There was such an assortment of customers! I have one observation to make though-- we had a tendency of overweight people ordering popcorn in various sizes with a diet coke. -.-; Just to let you know, that's POINTLESS!

When it comes to food prep though, I'm still a bit under training-- something about remembering the settings and times for everything we cook. For example--
Hot Dogs are frozen, and defrosted in the refridgerator. When we need to cook some, we take them from the fridge and put them on the rollers, at a setting of 6 or 6.5, (internal temperature of 155 degrees) for 15 minutes. Then we put them in a bun (I'm not sure if the buns are supposed to be warmed in the oven?) and into a box, where they sit under a heater. Pretzels are taken from the freezer and plopped right into the steamer, at a setting of 2.5. When someone orders one, we take one out and put it in the butter and then put the desired topping on it, and slide it into a paper bag. You have to use gloves with this, because the pretzels are uber slippery, and the tongs are useless. =P Nachos are made in the back room and brought out on huge trays. On weekends, I think we're supposed to warm them and the cheese in the oven (which is supposed to be set to 140 degrees, I think), otherwise, they sit under the heaters with the popcorn and hot dogs. Popcorn is another matter altogether... you put 3/4 of the supplied cup of kernels in the popper, with half the line on the small cup of seasoning. Pop, and when the popping gets to a minimum, dump the rest into the batch. Mix well, then serve.

Drinks are the easiest, but so easy to screw up-- people ordering diet get regular, they want Coke, but not the soda, the Icee! and so many other things-- Ice, especially, is a pain in the neck. I get so edgy! Thankfully I didn't have too many transaction errors-- one guy decided AFTER he paid to get different change... a woman wanted Peanut M&Ms after she ordered Peanut Butter ones, and so on. Only one refund was required. I had a few coupons, a few credit cards... and I slammed my middle finger into the register. That HURT. I mean OW. I tell you what, OW.

And I go back to all that mess today at 2:30, until 4:30. Stupid break schedule-- that means I can only get 1 10 minute break today. Yesterday that was a big mess, since people kept taking their breaks at weird times, and you need APPROVAL! :P And you can't get any drinks or food from YOUR concession, you have to get it on the 2nd floor, where Guest Services, the Break Room, and such are-- so you don't look bad to the guests. And you have to get your food from a special line, too! I wish someone had told me this sooner, as I waited in line on the 2nd floor concession for nearly 10 minutes, when I was hungry! ;_; The hot dog wasn't that great-- edible, but not great. :P

As for the company on my floor-- let me say that I liked the guests a hell of a lot better than my co-workers. One, Cat (supervisor) has been rude to me ever since she saw me leaving the theater last week wearing my black camisole-styled tank top. She didn't even say hi back to me when I was leaving, and I said Good night. YES, I was huffing and puffing from DDR, but it's not like I looked like an AMC employee, and someone would have thought something WRONG about me! I put my shirt on (out of self-consciousness, I guess) when I got to the 38 stop, anyway. Bah. But she was just plain SNIPPY to me yesterday, appearing out of nowhere while Linda, David, and I were closing up, and they were using a soda cup to scoop popcorn (which is not allowed, since soda cups are inventored). I said "I'm not responsible for you two," meaning, if they got in trouble for it, it wasn't my fault. I warned them that they shouldn't do it, and they wouldn't be able to wash the popcorn grease out, but did they listen? NOOOO! Besides, Cat said "Is that anyway to speak to your co-workers?" and she had this scandalized expression on her face! EXCUUUUSE ME! But they were the ones that barely helped me clean! I did most of the sweeping and reminding about the housebreaks, filled more orders (by myself!) and had to make more stuff, running to the back room all the time! BRATS! OH, and even worse-- Linda is THE STUPIDEST 16 year old EVER! She honestly thought that you measured the internal temperature of a hot dog by leaving the thermometer on its rack! What a dumbass! We have to check the internal temperature of the meat by poking it into its side and making sure it's between 145 and 155 degrees-- next time I do that, I have to remember to turn the rollers off. :P But augh! Linda is such a BRAT! ;_; I hope I don't have to work with her today.

On the bright side, Naveed is nice, Safa is quiet, but friendly, and Maria's cool, though I only saw her on break. I'm not sure whether I *want* to work on the 4th floor (usually the busiest) or not today... but just not with yesterday's crowd. Lazy-asses.

Came up with more ideas for the Mamo Week awards, and I'll get to working on those soon... lastly is to work on some fics, webpages, read some fics, and write my new column, "The Cynic." I'm already overflowing with ideas. :D ~_~ That's it. I better catch up on everyone else's journals now. Anime FX is tonight... so I'm going to save what little cash I have for McDonalds. Anything's better than another hot dog. ;)
