Yeah, I've heard something similar from my boss at work, who's a big Opera fan. I tried it once, and yes, I am spoiled by all my add-ons/extensions/themes (not widgets), and being without them drives me batty. It's hard enough beta-testing Firefox 3.5 and not all of them are compatible. I want my multi-row of tabs!
Besides, having hundreds of tabs isn't a good idea anyway; I never read them all! So it's not a matter of finding a browser capable of doing it, it's a matter of not opening up that many damn tabs in the first place!
