Books 'n' buying 'n' boxes

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
I don't usually like zombie flicks, but if this ends up getting made into a movie, I'll see it. Fer sure.
Also, what are books that you think belong on a must-read list? I'm not talking about books YOU must read (but they could be), but also books you HAVE read and think should be a fundamental component of all reading lists. My grandma wanted a "1000 Books To Read Before You Die" sort of list, but there's so many of them of so many different types that I'd prefer to ask for suggestions instead/as well. Links to the best lists of that sort would also be welcomed. Also, she wanted some books to be by Jewish writers, or translated from Yiddish/Hebrew into English, so if anyone knows of such books or of a list of such books, it would be very much appreciated!
I've been trying to help
fountain_the and his brother sell a ring on eBay and so far I've gotten two offers. One seemed fishy from the start, because the user had JUST signed up on the site and therefore had no feedback or buying/selling experience. The other looked like a legit user, but the location he mentioned in his message was different from the one set in his eBay profile. I wouldn't have thought much of it, except he somehow sent me a message to my personal email rather than through eBay. I made the effort of responding to his eBay only, and then I got another reply saying that the first message had been sent by an unauthorized user of the account! *sigh* Obviously, I'm not going to send an additional reply to my first message, but I won't do business with the guy if someone else was in his account.
I wonder if there's a way to know for sure if a buyer for this kind of thing is legit, if accounts on eBay can be hacked into (and of course they can; I've had my identity stolen so I know all about that!). I just hope the ring does sell soon, or else we'll have to relist it with all the "bells and whistles" like highlighting and front page featured.
In other news, I've been using Apple Mail (a.k.a. Mail.app) for all my emails for a while now, because Thunderbird was a memory hog, prone to forgetting domains, and not integrated with OS X at all. The integration has been great, but when I switched from POP3 to IMAP to save my hard disk space, I ran into some problems. Namely, for accounts on other services, like GMail, sometimes I'll get perpetual folders in my inbox (usually Inbox > Deleted Messages and Inbox > Inbox, and on and on and on....) and sometimes I'll get folders like Sent Messages (Azurite's GMail) even though the GMail account has its own Sent folder which I'm using for Sent messages! I found the "Mailbox > Use This Mailbox for..." command, but for some reason it doesn't work with Trash. This is very frustrating! Any tips/tricks/sites to check out?
GMail's settings suggest some things that seem very odd to me:
Drafts:
Store draft messages on the server > checked
Sent:
Store sent messages on the server > do NOT check
Junk:
Store junk messages on the server > checked
Delete junk messages when > Never
Trash:
Move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox > do NOT check
Store deleted messages on the server > do NOT check
For example, if you DO NOT move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox, then deleting them seems to do the opposite of what GMail says they do: it removes the Inbox label and makes them still visible in All Mail (the GMail folder of your Apple Mail's sidebar), but not in your inbox. Technically, because of GMail's labeling system, where a message can exist in two places at once, if you move a message to a folder, it removes the Inbox label. If you go into Apple Mail and put that label back on, when you check the location of that message in Apple Mail, it's back in your inbox, even if it's still got the label appropriate for a "folder" in Mail.
Actually, I think it's because of my idea that hitting the "Delete" key means the message should be "deleted" ("moved to the Trash"). GMail thinks differently. Short of finding a way to make the keystroke "Delete" = the command "Move to Trash of current account," I don't know any easy way out of this pickle. It's basically, if I want to delete something from a GMail account, I have to manually move the damn thing to the Trash folder by dragging and dropping it! What a pain!
Actually, here's an interesting workaround: defy Google's rules. This seems to work well in terms of getting messages into their proper places, but I don't know if it'll help with my dilemma of Delete = Delete instead of Delete = remove label and move to All Mail.
Mer is a scatterbrain:
I was supposed to go to a meeting with my English advisor today. I got out of my biology class ridiculously early and called Mom, grabbed some El Pollo Loco, and then went to the MIC to find out about the NSLS's advisor and DVD. I ate my lunch after the brief meeting and got some things together, sent a few emails, but I completely forgot about the meeting. I had it in my head to go to HR to find out why I haven't received my paycheck yet, but then I glanced at the clock and I only had 20 minutes to get to class! It wasn't until I was putting my things down in class that I realized I'd completely forgotten the meeting! ARRRRRGH! I'm trying to get my graduation evaluation (grad check) completed (it has to be signed by my advisors) so I can find out WHEN I'm supposed to graduate, but so many things keep getting in the way! Plus, time seems to be against me and speeding by awfully fast.
But, I'm still thinking positive and trying not to get stressed just yet. Yoga is doing wonders for me, even if it's only once a week (and I missed last week thanks to Zyrtec) and this week I was kind of a klutz when we tried to get our legs up on this "bar." Ahh... never mind that. X_X
