Ugh, I would have told that guy then and there that I want a new doctor and don't want to see him again.
That said, sometimes specialists are better than general practitioners. The likelihood of you being allergic to something uncommon is... well, uncommon, so if you're willing to dedicate a quarter of a day to being in an allergist's, you'll likely find out what it is that's making you tick or itch or burn or whatever. If my doc can't help me out tomorrow, I'm definitely making an appointment, because I know from experience that it's NOT useless. It can be lifesaving, so don't brush it off because of one dipshit doctor.
