Unofficially tagged by [livejournal.com profile] a_white_rain. Sounds like an interesting meme.

Sometimes it's okay to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five favorite fics that you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

Like AWR, I won't tag anyone in specific, but any fic writers on this list, I TAG YOU! Just do eet. (I'd love to see the fic writers on this FL do this. It might be fun to [re-]read fics that I wouldn't expect are the author's favorites.)

Oh, and these are not in top five order, or descending order or anything like that.

Only 16 (Sailor Moon)
Excerpt: One week later, Serena had her results: 'I'm going to be a mom,' she repeated in her head. 'But...' There, her train of thoughts ceased, careening into a pit of 'What-If's', 'Oh-No's' and other similar worries.

Across the street, Darien noticed Serena walking so haphazardly, and wondered if something was wrong. He was very tempted to go over there and ask her if she was all right, but...

'You can't. Remember, she's in danger because of you.'

Not my first-ever fic, but I'm pretty sure O16 is my first-ever multi-chaptered fic. "Sailor Moon" was my first fandom EVER though, my first introduction to Japanese anime, culture, and later, the language. I've wanted to revise the fic for a while now, and looking at it for the purposes of this meme got me going. So while you might not see the revision up right away, you should see it soon. It's making me laugh, looking back at what I wrote... I don't know how extensive the revisions will be as I get going, but for the first chapter, I'm fixing a lot and adding a lot more.

Haraguroi Yuugi: The Malicious Play (Fushigi Yuugi)

Excerpt: Still there.

EVERYTHING.

Not just the book itslf, but everything. Every word-- every single syllable on the first page. The rest of the pages were magically sealed, awaiting a young woman to find it, open them, and become the next priestess.

And now... she would have to undergo it... all over again.

This fic I need to revise for more formatting reasons, but I love the plot. I've only done a few Fushigi Yuugi fics, but it's another fandom that I just love. Some of the best stuff's already been done by others, but this was an idea that I loved, as a fan of "time travel" (or do-over stuff), I wanted to try re-doing the entire FY timeline as if Miaka were a stronger, more resilient character. I think part of the reason why there's hatred for main characters in shoujo dramas like "Fushigi Yuugi" are because they start out so... annoying, but for the people that stick it out to the end, they get to see the characters grow and change into these incredible people. I really liked the Miaka toward the end of the series, and she's the one that has to make that journey again. Like almost all of my stuff, this is still a WIP. Shameful, shameful! Someday I'll finish it.

Perfect World (Star Ocean: The Second Story)

Excerpt: "…Exp— Arctura 4 is still in existence?" the Captain asked, doing her best to maintain her cool. How… how was it possible? HOW!

"Yes, Ma'am. Coming up on the viewscreen." The cadet pressed a few buttons, and then the screen in front of the helmsmen flashed— and a planet not unlike Earth, only much bluer and greener, lay in orbit, a bright sun glowing not a billion miles away.

All the cadets aboard the bridge of the Federation Flagship Calnus suddenly looked up. Their first mission— and already a planet that was Not Supposed to Be There — WAS. All eyes lay entranced upon the viewscreen, especially those of the blue-haired Captain.

Two years… she thought she'd moved on, and forgotten the past. But now… Now…

Now she had returned at last… to Expel.

Who was it that turned me onto the Star Ocean franchise? I think it must have been [livejournal.com profile] zigx. I never really played video games that had a compelling-enough story for me to want to write fic for them, but this one changed that all. And after that, I started getting into other RPGs, like the Final Fantasy series (the first one I finished was FFX, and then FFX-2; I've played a bit of FF6 but had to give it back --and then never got my SNES back from a friend-- couldn't stand the graphics of FF7, played but never finished FF9, and recently started FF8 and LOVE IT but have yet to finish it 'cause I'm doing all the side quests). So you could say SO2 kind of started everything for me! When I get a PSP next month, I'll finally be able to play the first Star Ocean. There's a fourth one coming out (but it's a prequel to even the first one, I hear!), but I don't think it's for a system I own or will ever purchase... *sigh*

The Joke's On You (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Excerpt: "'This is...'" Téa recited, leaning down slightly, so that her breasts just barely grazed Kaiba's knee, "'My...'" She trailed a finger up his right leg, which was still splayed out in an uncharacteristic casual and laid-back manner-- for Kaiba, at any rate. She glanced upward and saw Seto Kaiba swallow once more, and she delighted in watching his cheeks suddenly burn scarlet.

True, she was rather tipsy at that point, and the whole incident would no doubt embarrass her to death the next day, but she was having fun, so what did any of that matter?

And then, almost a whisper, Téa's mouth enunciated the final word of Kaiba's "quote."

"'Obelisk.'" Her tongue pressed against her teeth for a long second as she formed the final 'l' sound, all while she kept her finger running up Kaiba's thigh and her eyes trained on his. Oh, yes indeed, he was blushing brilliantly.

My first ever Yu-Gi-Oh! fic! My first ever multi-chaptered Yu-Gi-Oh! fic! Yet another WIP! Would you believe this fic stemmed from a hentai doujinshi? But the thing is, it wasn't a Seto x Anzu one (I'd kill for one of those! We have so many talented artists, why can't some of them do a doujin!? I want a WDKY doujin...), it was more like a "cast orgy" one. At the time, I was embarrassed to admit I'd read stuff like that, let alone been inspired by one, so I kept the origins of the "joke" in the title vague. But I'm coming clean now! I laughed so hard the first time I read it that I wondered what it'd be like if someone in the cast said it to Kaiba under more... er, normal circumstances? And I'd been reading more and more great Azureshipping fics (I was a former Revolutionshipper and Peachshipper --basically (Yami no) Yuugi x Anzu), so I wanted to try my hand at 'shipping them myself. Midway through this, I got the idea for WDKY, and poor TJOY got put off to the side. Whenever I tried to work on it again, it got too dramatic --not at all funny and sexy, which is what I'd been going for from the start. Maybe I picked a bad arc to set it in (Battle City), but that was the point the show was at during the dub's airing on U.S. TV, and it seemed the best way to sort of "force" Téa and Seto together in an awkward way. But Battle City's a serious arc? How could I gloss over it with humor (which I don't think I've ever been good at, at least not for this fandom)? So it's on hold, barring my muse suddenly getting a sense of humor.

People would expect me to include WDKY right here; it's my biggest plotbunny ever, my current fic project... and I could probably go on about it for ages. So I won't say that's one of my favorites "for now," because it's always giving me so much trouble with how huge it is, and how wonderful it is IN MY HEAD. Instead, one of my Yu-Gi-Oh! oneshots that I'm pretty proud of....

Keep (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Excerpt: It made no sense.

The view wasn't moving at all, really.

So why was she crying?

Those giant, dollops of water slip-sliding down Mazaki's face hadn't gone unnoticed by Seto Kaiba; and he was only up on the special observation deck because the class assignment involved taking notes on the view.

Of course, Seto Kaiba had answered all his questions on the bus ride THERE-- his own office building was a few blocks from the Tokyo Tower, so the view didn't really offer him anything new. Still, he was a bit intrigued.

'Why the camera? Why the tears?' Wasn't Mazaki always the chipper one? Her constant gung-ho, sugar-high attitude often irritated Seto, but that girl seemed to have taken a one-day vacation.

I wrote this in a single sitting in one of my university freshman year classes on Computer-Aided Design, which I thought meant Photoshop and ended up being how to use CAD and stuff. More my dad's forte than mine, but because almost everyone else hated the class, I ended up doing pretty well. I knew so much of the stuff already that I could afford to write fics in my "spare" time. That day, I was really missing Michelle (my late sister, fyi), and this story just sort of "came out" as a result of that. I think by the time I was done and had posted it (shameful of me, because these days I don't like posting very much without it having beta read, but I just wanted this story OUT there for some reason), I was crying-- not like, down my cheeks or anything, but in my eyes. Scott, my boyfriend atm, saw me, and was pretty worried, but I told him that I had a story I needed to get out, and he didn't mind waiting for me as I finished. It was a very strange sort of relief, a sense of accomplishment, that I got from writing this story. I'm still very proud of it, even if some parts are a bit wacky. If you read it (or have read it), you might know what I mean.
