I think I've mentioned that my sleeping schedule has gone to shit since I've come back from S.F., right? Even when I try to go to bed early, or I feel exhausted at a "reasonable hour" (e.g. 11 or 12), I somehow end up staying up-- either I get distracted, I start reading, or I get hungry... and then before you know it, it's 2, 3, 5!! 6!!! in the morning. And of course, I love to sleep, so even when I do finally fall asleep, when I wake up, it might be anywhere from 11-12 hours later. Maybe more. o_o

Anyway, with weird hours and other bad habits, I have weird dreams. The past few nights, some have been more like nightmares, but thankfully I don't remember them too well now; today's was... not a nightmare, but weird all the same.

I don't remember specific details, but I do remember one dream where, at one point, I dreamed ants were crawling ALL over me. I'm not sure if I woke up or if I just dreamed that I did, but I had to check my pillow to make sure I wasn't really covered in them. That totally gave me the heebie-jeebies. Ants DO NOT belong in the house, let alone in my bedroom.

I dreamed I was packing my suitcase-- I think I was leaving Japan (a vacation visit of some sorts), and I was really upset because of who I was leaving behind (three guesses, and the first two don't count...). Something that was apparently very sentimental was one of those... oh, I don't really know what it's called, but I think a lot of us played with them as kids. They're plastic sticks with some sort of light, slightly waxy paper wrapped around them-- really long strips of them, probably six feet long by four or five inches high, and they're decorated with all kinds of patterns. The idea is, if you wrap them up tightly enough, when you fling the stick, they come out in a neat whirlwind-tube shape, or the flag snaps out really loudly.

Mine was decorated with bold spirals-- big circles of yellow, magenta, blue, bright green... and I'd written something on it in blue ink (and I think that something rhymed, but I still don't know what it was) and got very upset just looking at it.

There may have been another dream (or a dream within a dream) where I was running away (in some sort of leather outfit, no less) and I dropped something precious --they looked like little plastic dolls, but maybe a bit worn-down, about the size of my thumb or smaller) and I freaked out. They had gone through one of those grates in the ground that go toward the subway... and I was crazy enough to try and get them back, though the cops were after me for some reason. I was so desperate for those dolls, I figured I'd deal with the cops after the fact; they had no idea what "they" were getting into, anyway.

The last part kind of connects back to the first, because after all was said and done, I was unpacking in my own room (yes, the one I'm in right now), and I found that spiral thing and got upset reading the words in blue ink again... I had the small dolls scattered on my bedspread... and then I noticed a few things that didn't belong. Something that looked like a CD player, but played tapes, a semi-traditional looking Walkman (but clear), and a tape in a case. Apparently [livejournal.com profile] syn_zero had been on the plane with me, and all the stuff we'd had out just before landing somehow got mixed up-- at least, that was what dream!Me thought, and I figured I had to return it to him somehow. There was also some very-strange looking anime-type character (blonde, with a bright pink bow and a deformed-looking nose) on the back, and it made me think the tape, of all things, was a rip. I think at seeing that, I remembered an argument some little girl on the plane got into with Will, and she was lecturing him about not pirating things?

I just remember Will not giving a rats ass, and me sort of smiling about it with [livejournal.com profile] azhp, who was next to/near me on the plane-- maybe we'd all gone to Japan on some sort of tour?

In any case, I can actually dissect where all these parts of the dream came from, which might be a first. You know how it's said that the brain is trying to sort through the events of the day (or other things on your mind) when you dream? Well, I think it did just that, keeping little details of things I'd seen and then using them in dreams as a way of saying "Yup, this is in your brain now!"

So, the person I was visiting... that's easy, he was here last week, and of course I've been thinking of him off and on. Every family member brings him up at least once every two weeks, so...

The colored-spiral thing-- I was reading a rant on [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants yesterday, and it mentioned the critical difference between complementary and complimentary. I thought I had seen the one referring to colors as complimentary somewhere, so I wanted to confirm the definition by looking up color theory on the web. I went to ColorsOnTheWeb.com, where indeed, the Color Wizard spelled it wrong, but at least USED it right-- complementary colors are also known as OPPOSITES (e.g. red and green, blue and orange, etc.) I think the bright colors on the Wikipedia definition of complementary colors stuck in my head, and they resulted in the bright spirals and blue ink.

The rhyme was probably a result of me complaining about Mr. Blackwell's Worst-Dressed celebrities of 2007 in the Los Angeles Times yesterday; in explaining why each star was so horribly dressed, he had to RHYME, which I thought was rather childish.

As for [livejournal.com profile] syn_zero and [livejournal.com profile] azhp, well, I went to Sean's Facebook profile the other night, noticed Will had actually posted on his Wall... I was surprised. (I don't know, I guess I was a bit bummed, too, since he's cut ties with everyone else -including me.)

The small dolls could be the result of my cute little Kaiba figurine always sitting above me when I'm on this computer, or any other doll-like things I see on a regular basis thanks to Baba. They also vaguely reminded me of some Akira mini-dolls that came with cup ramen when I was in Japan. I only have one-- the bust of Akira. All the Akira dolls are tan with sort of red lines-- they look very worn, even though they're not. That's the sort of look the dolls in my dream had, but some had color on them.

The piracy thing, along with the cheesy not-quite-anime character is probably the result of my own, older memories-- I was slow to transition to CDs and then MP3s, I was a "bad girl" in terms of buying anime and music... but I've changed, and now I'm the annoying girl giving lectures on piracy! Go fig.

Anyway, I want to "finish" a lot of things today, if I can-- [livejournal.com profile] a_white_rain, are you feeling better? I'm hoping to get the last bits of the [livejournal.com profile] 30kisses Claims List purged, but I still need that portion T-Z emailed to me! Let me know when/if you can. :)

Other mods ([livejournal.com profile] dqbunny, [livejournal.com profile] svelterose)? I'm probably going to need your help to make sure all of those entries that we've dropped (basically, everything marked as "Drop" on the New Year's 2008 Claims List Purge file I linked you all to) are in the Memories, so we can get rid of those pairings (and fandoms, if there's no active pairings for that fandom) from the Tagging System.

Finally, I sent all the mods a lengthy email... but it covers some important issues, so I'm hoping to get feedback on those before too long, so if I have to make any changes to the community, I can.

>_> I've also got to clean my room, finish SO3 (because I'll at least beat Luther today, dagnabbit!) and do my laundry! AND OFF WE GO!
