Should I be irritated?

Exhibit A: Kitty Wish, by MSparrow, first published 10/19/04, completed 9/29/05. 11 chapters.

Exhibit B: T·L·C, by Azurite, first published 3/25/04, incomplete.

I found the former story in a C2 archive for Seto x Anzu that was recently nominated for inclusion at BEA. The summary sounded horribly familiar to me, especially with how Anzu got
a) a necklace
b) from Yuugi
c) and she wished to see Kaiba be nice
d) so she turned into a cute cat that vexed Kaiba and learned his deepest secrets
Now, I understand that the stories are different -it's not like I've been plagiarized word-for-word, and I know you can't really "own" a rudimentary fanfic idea, such as "Anzu turns into a cat and sees Kaiba in a new light." But... I did it first, and this looks like a complete rip-off of my idea! >_> Maybe I'm jumping the gun. Am I jumping the gun?

...This idea isn't original. It's MY idea, this person just mooched it off me.

AND DAMMIT, HER NAME IS Téa, not Tea, you lazy asswipes! Use the accent or use her Japanese name! She's not a caffeinated beverage!

...I'll eventually update about this past week, I swear. Ugh, I'm so busy already...

Yeah, I couldn't really bring myself to finish reading the story and even check and see if my ideas got stolen before I could really bring them to fruition (I used to host my ideas for fics on my site, until I got worried about people stealing them, so my first thought -after my unyielding faith in humanity, believing in sheer coincidence at first- was that this person had not only seen my first chapter of TLC, but swiped the planner file and made their own badfic using my idea).

Are you ever going to update that? I remember really liking that fic.

Oh, someday. The whole reason why I started such short series like TLC (planned at 5 chapters) is so I had something to fiddle with when WDKY got me down. But I've been languishing over this one chapter in WDKY for so long, I just want to get it over with and move on with the arc that I've been itching to write for so long.

I suppose when I get WDKY24 finally beta read, finished, and posted, I'll tinker on some other fics.

Remember when we all did that Livejournal meme where everyone posted ten excerpts from works in progress that hadn't been posted? All my Yu-Gi-Oh! ones were swiped by this one gal on ff.net. At first, I thought it was a coincidence but then the following chapters she had posted of "Razzle Dazzle", "Intoxication", and "Frosting On the Cake" not only had the previous chapters sounding like my previous chapters but the ideas provided in the excerpts had been in there too. Then the following week, she came out with new stories that sounded very much like "Conquest of the Trinity," "His Past, Her Present, Their Future," "Circumstances Otherwise," "Mitigated Provocations," "An Atypical Excursion", and then two other ones I had provided excerpts for later on. I guess when the same author posts maybe the first three stories that sound awfully alike mine, it's a coincidence. But then when it follows the next three, it's kind of suspicious. =_= I never complained though because those were always works in progress and never published except on LJ but it did irk me a little.

@_@ You never complained? Why the hell not!? Those were your ideas dammit, and 6 stories "similar" is 6 stories TOO ALIKE! :P It doesn't matter if they weren't posted on FFnet or anything, it's still your work! :(
