azurite: (leia pretty dangerous)

I'm so doped up beyond belief right now, it's amazing I can type with my eyeballs intact. I took Sudafed (2x 30mg), 2 Ibuprofen (2x 200mg), and Tylenol Sinus (2x 530mg). The pain in my eyeball area mostly went away, the inner side of my eyelid doesn't quite look like someone socked me a shiner, and I'm not crying. It still hurts a bit, but... I'm going to be okay. It's apparently something sinus related (not as a result from putting someone else's makeup on, which is how you can get styes, and it's how I got one when I was younger. Big ugly pain-in-the-eye), so I'm drinking lots of water and taking expired Tylenol. YAAAY. -_-; Sleeping is now my favorite past time, because it means my eyes don't hurt. Or if they do, I don't feel it.

Anywho, Six Apart bought LiveJournal. I've never heard of Six Apart before today, but they're the folks that created Movable Type and all that other fun stuff that's used all over the web. Guess what that means? LJ is supposed to get "prettier," with no real changes to the service or infrastructure, but they're also moving here to San Francisco! (Here being where I am now, not where I am usually, which is Northridge.) Maybe in the summer I can get an internship! Wouldn't that be cool?

Today Mom and I worked on my FAFSA, but she has to get her PIN from the FSA and... blargh. Everything was pretty much guesstimated, but I should still get a nice Cal Grant this year, because (1) my GPA is much better than it was cumulative in high school and (2) Mom didn't make a FRACTION as much money; she's hovering above poverty level this year because of those 2 months/lockout. All that's left is:
* Get Mom to PIN the FAFSA
* Make any necessary revisions once we both get our W-2s (it looks like I won't be filing because I made less than $4,850) and do taxes
* Find out whether CSUN does the Cal Grant GPA Verification Form automatically, or if I have to pester the people at the FinAid office
* Use the appropriate addy of the FinAid office to send my GoldenState award... which = extra $, for text books, supplies, whatever. Or Japan. Yes, Japan.

May I tell you something I find funny? When people spell 'grammar' as 'grammer.' It makes me laugh every time. It's not a British/Australian/Swahilian way of spelling it. You're wrong, and you need a spell-check. And I need to keep pointing, staring, and laughing like the wild maniac I am. Thank you.

I mean, I use Semagic as my LiveJournal client. I rarely update via the LiveJournal.com website, and even when I do, I spell-check. There's just no excuse. Seriously, people. SPELL-CHECK. Personal journal or no... Okay, I'm sorry, I can say whatever the hell I want, however the hell I want in here, but I spell-check, because I'd look like a total idiot to anyone that read it if I spelled every third word incorrectly.

I make exception for words that are more likely to be found in Wikipedia as opposed to Dictionary.com. I mean, words like "fanfiction," for example. Sometimes there are also humorous words, used for effect. Like "teh" and "l33t" and so on. Most people reading this will know what they mean, and besides that, I use them so rarely and within context, so it almost always makes sense.

In terms of fics (which is why most of you are here, right?) I'd like to announce that I'm very nearly done with adding scenes to WDKY15 and I mean it this time. So Atlantis and Kysra, any edits you send me will be appreciated, but there's more on the way to ogle your brain. ^^; Mamono, you'll be pleased... I think. I hope. Mokuba and Seto are such a pain to work with. But watching Mokuba in that minute-long (if that) scene today in the repeat-Yu-Gi-Oh made me lubble him even more. He's snarky, but so innocently cute! It's hard to imagine the nasty version he supposedly has/is in the Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh.

Oh yes, and now, a poll inspired by a rant.
[Poll #415394]

I created this because I'm probably one of the guiltiest parties out there concerning WIPs. Every time I get a review for one of my older fandoms, or fanfics that I started for "the wrong reasons," I laugh and wonder how the reviewer stumbled on said fic. Then I wonder if I really should finish it, or if I could even get into that frame of mind once more. I'm a very Quality Over Quantity Person, but... I like having those fics up there, as a reminder to finish them. Like, soon. Or before I die. Something like that. What's your take on this?

On an additional, nostalgic note, how many Sailor Moon fandomers remember the fic "First Truths?" I believe that was the name, anyhow. In any case, the author stopped writing-- for months, and months and... well, being the obsessive fangirl cum "imouto from hell" that I am/was, I actually theorized possible outcomes. I like that about WIPs-- it can actually INSPIRE thought. I think if I looked at those theory maps, I could actually develop a whole new fic from them. Wow.

Dragonfayth was having some errors lately, but I think they're fixed-- I went there today and all the code-mess was gone, plus four new stories have been submitted to the queue. I'll get to them later, if the mods don't. *harsh stare*

Or is it Ashlee Simpson? I can't remember which one's the porn star and which one's the singer. Anyway, so randomly Sung and I got into this argument/conversation regarding a lyric in the song the singer performed at the Rose Bowl (and got booed for). It turned into the longest IM we've ever had (I'm sure), and it's quite funny, really, because we're arguing logic.

The lyric in question is: If you want my auto, want my autobiography, baby, just ask me. Now, Sung's arguing that it should be "biography" and not "autobiography." Aside from the obvious, that the 'auto' is required for the echo effect and to keep up with the beat (it acts as the prefix; if you said "my bio, biography," it wouldn't sound as good), there's also the fact that only Ashley can write her AUTOBIOGRAPHY, but anyone can write her BIOGRAPHY. There's plenty of "Celebrity Unauthorized, Unofficial" Bios out there on the market, but how many AUTOBIOGRAPHIES?

In context, the song talks about the listener wanting to know more about Ashley, and knowing things "from the street" so far. Ashley says if the listener wants to know more about her, don't listen to the hype from whoever, but ask HER for the info, and she'll gladly fork it over. Of course if you are required or MUST get her autobiography, you have no choice BUT to ask her. However, I see the listener as having other choices:

(a) Ask her for her autobiography, and learn more about Ashley. It's what Ashley obviously wants.
(b) Don't ask her for anything. Why should you care?
(c) Keep listening to people off the street, and take that as fact, no matter what Ashley says.

You cannot assume that the listener WANTS the autobiography-- he just wants info in general, right?

I think I sort of won the argument, but if this made sense to anyone and you want to throw your two cents in (logically speaking), then please do.

Last thing-- aside from my severe lack of images on this comp, I want to try and make more WDKY!icons, namely character icons with memorable quotes. Any suggestions for specific quotes? They can be spoken OR thought.
