Ze charming new fragrance from ze isle of Northridge-- Eu du Dog! It comes in three varieties-- Missy, Harley, and Ajax (not meant to copyright infringe on the cleanser).

So today I woke up, took care of the pooches and promptly went back to sleep. Come 9:50am, I awoke to Yu-Gi-Oh-- which was amazingly good. I'm serious-- the animators for this one episode, Yugi vs. Marik Part 2, were FANTASTIC. The expressions on Marik's face were downright hilarious, too. He had a few "I'm so AZN" looks, too, even though he's Egyptian. ^^; All in all, a great episode-- but I did notice the recycled (from Part 1) "Ra Reborn" techs. -_- How annoying.

Back to sleep... awake again at noonish. I was online for a while (somebody MAY have noticed me...) but come 3:15, I wanted to head to the Mall to catch Yu-Gi-Oh at 3:45. This time I knew that the show time was right... see, last night, I tried to go, but it turned out the night showing was at the Winnetka. I didn't want to call Grandpa back to pick me up, so I just snagged a student ticket (gawd, I love how CSUN prints their student IDs in 5 minutes! R0X0RZ!) and saw "Collateral." Tom Cruise again, has risen to "TEH SHIT" level. I mean seriously-- in "Collateral," he rocks. For an action/suspense type movie (what do you WANT me to call it?!) it sure had its funny parts. Tom Cruise saying "homie," for one...? *snicker*

Anyway, so I waited in line at the PacTheatres (which, by the way, I am glad I decided not to apply/work at-- sorry to say, but they suck compared to AMC)-- I was one of the few "older" people in Yu-Gi-Oh wear. Heh... I bet all the HSers thought I was weird, but whatever. I got "Sorcerer of Dark Magic," but I really really want "Blue Eyes Shining Dragon" for my Dragon Deck (useless until BEUD comes out, but still) and "Pyramid of Light" to complete my Egyptian deck. The other card is "Watapan," the cream puff. The Exclusive Pack has most of the other cards that appeared in the movie-- namely Peten the Annoy-- whoops, I mean "Peten the Dark Clown" and Seto's "Rare Metal Dragon." Plus Anubis's "Sphinx Teleia" and "Andro Sphinx," plus "Theinen the Great Sphinx," the Special "Combined" summon of both of them. And Seto's "Familiar Knight" as well. The "Return from the Different Dimension" came with the EXPAKs as well, but the "Inferno Tempest" was never used in the movie...

Soon there'll have to be another Movie/Exclusive Pack, or perhaps a new Booster that includes Anubis's bitchin' dog form (no pun intended), Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, Obligatory Summon, Magician's Valkyria, and... well, I'm sure there were a few other cards I missed.

Calm down, Kaiba-boy, you're not that good.-- Maximillion Pegasus

HAH! This movie was great. Cheesy to be sure, and filled with all those too-long duels we all know and *cough* ADORE! The animation was great, the music was amazing (Mamono's right, I've gotta get the soundtrack! Too bad Border's didn't have it. I guess I'll have to order it online from Amazon, once I get a bank account set up). If you stuck through the credits, you'd see that the movie was made by Korean people-- and as per usual with dub-anything, they didn't bother to say who played who in the movie-- which annoyed me to no end.

There were several priceless lines, including the above snarky exchange c/o Seto and Pegasus. Pegasus almost had as much dry wit and humor as Kaiba is usually known for-- at times he was almost sarcastic! There were loads more, as well:
Joey: "I'm the Godfather of Games!" (said with a Godfather/Italian accent)
Kaiba: "...and if you'd just stop being such a pompous windbag..." (to Yugi)
Yugi: "PHARAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!"

There were loads more, too-- when Téa's soul appeared in the Soul Labyrinth, and Anubis "solidified" her, she was about to fall into a horde of mummies-- and then all of a sudden she pulled a Trinity (Matrix) on everyone's ass and did a split-kick, knocking two of their heads off! She then proceeded to freak out, but still-- that's Téa for you. Ass-kicking one minute, about to hurl from mummy rot the next. She can drag Yugi away from a crowd of duel-hungry creeps, but she'll freak out when faced with a mummy. ^_^

Interesting factoids, according to the movie:
* It's been 3 years since Kaiba first dueled Yugi, and Duelist Kingdom passed. That means by movie time, they are all 18 years old... (Yugi first dueled Kaiba when they were 15-16, but they're all still in school-- hence, age 18. 17 for Yugi, at least.)

* Yugi assembled the puzzle on his own-- any reference to Joey giving him the last piece was x-d from the movie. Plus, once Yugi finished assembling the puzzle, no reference was really made to badass!Yami, only that he awakened then, banished some "Dark Spirits of the Shadow Realm!" and went back to the puzzle. If you've ever wanted to see a PISSED OFF Kuriboh, see the movie. It's hilarious.

* In the movie, there were some weird things, re: tributes and rules. I thought they'd follow the Battle City format, but in Kaiba's duel vs. Yugi (which, by the way, was not technically WON or LOST-- Anubis kicked Kaiba out of the duel), Kaiba brought out so many monsters at once, I was 100% confused. There were tributes for God Monsters, but not for others...? Kaiba brought out all 3 of his BEWDs without a single thought. O_o

* I have come to the conclusion that Kaiba, when not surrounded by Mokuba or Roland (with small portable fans), has designed the Duel Dome and the Duel Tower (and any other KaibaCorp locations) with a floor similar to an air hockey table. Hence his gravity-defying coat. =D BOO YAH!

* Grandpa has a pacemaker, apparently. And the Pyramid of Light sets it off. BEEEPITY BEEP BEEP!

* The cards were shown in the English TCG format-- that is, with actual card titles, card format, and even DESCRIPTIONS! Much better than the WB-dub form, where titles are cut off, and everything is centered. Plus there's no descriptions. :P Even the God Cards were rearranged to fit this format, appearing as their "fake English" counterparts (as obtained by anyone who bought the Japanese World Championship game for GBA).

* Anubis has no nipples, unless you count the pretty blue one on his forehead.

* Kaiba can fly, as demonstrated by his first rematch with Yugi, when he leapt "aboard" the BEUD, as Yugi did with his God Cards. And speaking of the God Cards, I guess we'll never see Horkh'ti, the Ultimate God-- sort of a fusion of the 3 God Cards. We've seen the 3 Gods "combine" and sort of sit on one another, and we've seen 2 God Cards lend their powers to the 3rd... but no Ultimate God. Maybe in the Pharaoh's Memory/Ancient Egypt arc?

* The Life Point Gauges were done Japanese style-- silver, with an actual "LP" in the corner. The dub ones are blue and yellow, and never say "LP" anywhere.

* Kaiba is a licensed pilot, apparently. And the Blue Eyes White Jet rocks. =D We need to start seeing more Pilot!Kaiba fics, or just ones where his rogue attitude saves the day. He's such a wonderful anti-hero...

* Pegasus has retired from the creation of Duel Monsters-- and Yugi, theoretically, OWNS 60% of the company. No one ever seems to notice this. Where are all the new Duel Monsters cards coming from? Do they not have booster packs and expansions in the Yu-Gi-Oh-verse? o_O

* Speaking of Pegasus, he does NOT have an eye patch, as in Reshef of Destruction. He's retired, alive, and... not insane. Not dead. (We didn't see Bakura, by the way. Anyone else freaked out by that?) And he admits to being a wine drinker! Not a fruit juice drinker! HAH! Still, he did say "spritzer," which, I'm sorry to say, is not enough to give anyone bad dreams. I wonder if there was a "look at my gaping hole for an eye socket" scene that got cut at the last minute. All we saw was Kaiba grimace-- and if HE can be uncomfortable with that kind of thing, you know it looks gross.

* Kaiba vs. Pegasus was a great duel! Lots of snark to be had, and Kaiba LITERALLY got his ass kicked by Toon Gemini Elf. I assume since the premiere of extra Toon Monsters, we'll be seeing them in future packs-- maybe even a Pegasus Evolution pack?

* We saw Mai in a semi-DOOM outfit-- white and black. No purple. She was only there for a split second, but she didn't look happy with all of Yugi's fame... so when the DOOM arc comes out, her actions will make sense, even for people coming straight from the movie canon.

* The prophecy --and the intro to the whole movie, as seen on my World Championships Preview site-- was a bit wonky. Even Eternity doesn't last forever? It was never meant to happen (x3) but it did. -_- Yeah, we get it. Anubis was awakened. FOOK!

Great movie. I'm gonna see it again tomorrow... maybe.

Coming in the next entry-- a creepy oneshot that was written with Yu-Gi-Oh in mind, but could probably fit into a multitude of fandoms. Inspired by "Collateral."

I've finished updating BEA thanks to Mamono's incredible devotion of time, and now I'm working on the nomination forms and wonky CSS. See you soon!
