It's a long, drawn-out process

Whoo! What a productive week-- it went by pretty fast. So I started my job officially, burned my hand, got all sorts of nicks and scrapes from cleaning blenders and subjecting my poor fragile hands to sanitizer, and opened up some icky wounds that now hurt and sting like hell. All that and a sore throat caused by my asthma inhaler! Yay.

In better news, communities I'm part of are up and rolling.
ygo_lyricwheel is a little over a month away from the deadline of 6/28 for submissions. One person still hasn't gotten their assignment yet, so I think I have to pester them on their LJ. But I'm excited about the prospect of seeing the fics, and I hope more people will join up for Round 2!

ygo_goodfics is now the baby of myself and atemu_girl. We're looking for suggestions to improve the comm, and so far we've gotten a variety of ideas. Now we need more-- yours!

betasquad is slowly coming together, but we need more members, more pimpage, more icons, and people to start submitting (that might as well be me, ne? But what I post will be top-secret!) 30kisses hasn't gotten any requests for pairings lately, so that means we need more pimping! I'm highly tempted to just go on the original 30_kisses and offer the other place as an alternative-- NOT as a substitute. But there's that niggling doubt in the back of my mind that's saying that's akin to mutiny and everything, and I really don't want to be flamed... I dunno, what should I do? In any case, I'll be posting more for my 30kisses, soon.

I'm also getting back into icon making again, and I got this HORRIBLE (a word here meaning "fantastic") idea for a new icontest that uses UNRELATED ideas and forces people to associate them with Yu-Gi-Oh, and consequently, icons. This means things like bizarre questions, "laws" (like Murphy's Law, the Anime Laws, etc.), movie titles, and so on. It'll change from week to week, so there's a level of fun and unpredictability with the idea...

In any case, I need a name for this comm., and a way to spiff up the layout, because frankly I'm jealous of places like yet_another_ygo with free accounts and amazing layouts. Generator just doesn't cut it for me any more, and I'm not about to pay $25/year for all my community accounts-- not when most people look at comm. postings through their friends pages, anyway.

I've discovered it's a right pain to keep track of all the icontests open this week, closing this week, their theme and requirements... it's a headache. So I started putting them all in my To-Do list in my datebook:
* ygo_stillness - old icon
* ygo_chorus - edge of soul (by soul edge)
* ygo_hush - ???
* ygo_verse - The Limited Times
* yet_another_ygo - ???

Sadly, I didn't win anything from chorus or yet_another_ygo this past week. I'm trying harder and harder, but... Feh, maybe I just don't have the iconista's eye or something. :P It won't stop me from continuing to try.

I worked on WDKY17 last night-- it feels weird writing this chapter, because it takes place in the beginning of the New Year, which was 5 months ago, so it's like "I wanna write Chapter 24 already!" (where Chapter 24 is the summer chapter). -_- I love it when I get ahead of myself, don't you?

I've also decided that I like Dartz. I like him so much he has a special place in my fics heart. *shuts mouth*

Next week is finals... well, sort of.
Astronomy Final... study, and I'll be good. We'll review for it this week tomorrow and Thursday, and I've never had a reason NOT to be confident about that class. I like Professor Wallingford's teaching style, because *SHOCK!* I learn from it!

Journalism Final is next Wednesday. I have no class on Monday *OR* Tuesday, which means extended weekend for me-- assuming I don't work, which would probably be a bad idea, hm? Or maybe I could use the excuse that I'd have the extra time for studying for my harder finals... (I have a tentative A- in the class! YAYNESS!)

Philosophy, the class I can't take seriously. He's announced that he will not be collecting the homework, just going over it, so I don't even think I'll waste my time with doing anything other than reading the book and skimming the exercises. I've wasted so much paper, ink, and brain power in that class... I really don't think he can flunk me regardless of the final. I participate and understand the concepts, and if he thinks differently, I'll raise hell with the department chair.

Sociology is bound to be a bit difficult, but Professor Gardner isn't even having the final on finals day-- she's having it this Thursday! @_@ I need to study and buy more scantrons. I need two for journalism, one for philosophy, one for sociology, and one for astronomy... that's a whole package more than I have! Sociology, while a fun, interactive class, can get confusing at times.

STAR WARS!!! This week this week happy happy joy joy happy happy... ah hell, I know everyone in San Francisco probably saw the super-advance screening at the Metreon, where Lucas himself was there pimping the whole thing, but phooey. I'm going at 1:30 in the morning to an eebil AMC in Burbank with my BOYFRIEND! *smirk* I'm happy. :)
