Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] ishiwatari and tomorrow, for [livejournal.com profile] starrienite (are you even on LJ anymore???)!! I'd do the cool color-changing font thing like is my tradition with birthdays and other "celebratories," but then I couldn't do the user names, and... well, it just makes life easier. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DUDETTES! ^_^

So I missed last night's Town Hall-style debates, but I'm on MSNBC.com reading the transcript and highlights now, along with people's journals on their impressions. It's nice to be hearing so much from so many people and perspectives, even if a surprising majority of them are people who can't vote yet! Wow, I'm so proud of the teenage class- it's about time we show those politicians that we ARE a demographic that matters!

I met Scott's friend Monk last night; he's into not just making his own music (apparently he's produced 2 of his own CDs already!) but advertising as well! He's a great guy, if a little shy, maybe? There was this finger-zapper roulette game at the party, and Monk was too scared to put his finger in. But apparently everyone wanted SOMEONE (read: some GUY) to put his... er, WANG in the device. o_O

Anywho, so Monk and I talked about politics briefly; since Scott and I'd come from the anime club pre-party, I heard a quick play-by-play from Monk about what happened. I'm proud of Bush in the sense that he finally seemed to grow a pair and stand up for himself, and not make faces at Kerry. He took the lead and the initiative, and that's a great quality in a president. (The flip side being, of course, knowing when to back down and listen; knowing when to acknowledge mistakes, and knowing how to back up and correct yourself when you make a mistake.) Well, then I heard about the following fun mistakes:

* The "Internets." - LOL. You'd think the President wouldn't make such a simple mistake, but he can always chalk it up to a Texas drawl, I guess. Regardless, the thing about the draft wasn't a rumor and he knew it. If he could just ADMIT it, then maybe the American public (especially the youth that would have been affected by the bill to reinstate the draft) would trust him more. Yes, there was a bill that he suggested. Yes, it might help issues regarding the military being spread too thin globally, but NO, it didn't pass. Yet.

* Cheney vs. Edwards the previous night-- "factcheck.com." The .org one is the one that is supposedly unbiased and checks the facts of presidential debates and speeches and the like. The .COM one that Cheney mentioned, however, is an anti-Bush site... LOL! He made a plug for the enemies!

-_- Damn, Scott said he was feeling beat (he dropped me off at home around 2:30) and instead of staying at school to study, he left... ;_; I was looking forward to seeing him again, even if it meant I had to try and learn to drive (very scary prospect for me, meanwhile). But then, Scott doesn't get half as much sleep as he should, so it's okay. But he owes me now... :P A bowling date, a trip to the Hollywood Hills, and maybe a scary movie (if I can sit through one)-- "The Grudge," with SMG, even if it's a tame PG13.

Coming up:
* WDKY11 by tonight, hopefully. I think I need to take a nap and wake my muse up. If the betas don't get back to me, I'll try and work something out.

* Anniversary page at Darkness Rising -- needs some last minute edits, since it's chock full of spoilers, but...

* Halloween/Samhain -- it'd be nice to go to San Diego with Scott, since he wants me to (!) and his mom's favorite holiday is MY favorite holiday as well. Plus I'm itching to follow through on my great costume idea, if I could just get up off my lazy butt and figure out how to do it. I need to go to a costume store, I guess.

* NaNoWriMo -- Finally make use of my FictionPress account and publish the story "officially" when I'm done! And I will participate, and I will finish! Hey, I wonder if Will's going to do NaNoWriMo? He just published something new on FP, and it was pretty interesting... not exactly fiction, but then, I don't keep up on FP's TOS, and I'm not that kind of a snitch. Some grammar gaffes, but that's about it.

* Scanlations -- Aside from KiSS dolls and similar creative endeavors, I'm starting to get into scanlating again. I'm leaning towards completing Sailor V, since it's short, old-school, and STILL unlicensed. I wish Naoko would redo Sailor V the way she did Sailor Moon... Plus I found some great websites on the subject. Plus, since Viz won't be done with YGO until what, 2009-- they probably won't get around to licensing GenEX anytime soon (and oh yes, bad me already has fic ideas for the new YGO series, of which 2+(?) episodes have premiered...), which means if I can go to LA and get the manga, I can scanlate it! :o

z_Z Scott's tiredness must have rubbed off on me, too. I'm tired and not feeling particularly inspired at the moment... I will have to take out my contacts (grr!) but at least I'll be able to sleep. Maybe later I'll read/watch the presidential debates, take 2 and post my commentary.
