All your loans are belong to us
Aug. 16th, 2004 04:16 pmWell, it looks like I may have figured out the Master's Promissory Note thing. I went to the SSC today and got an MPN, plus the Chela Financial info. Thanks to the lady at the FinAid SSC, I signed everything online with my FAFSA pin. The catch? I couldn't edit my address- the one still in S.F. -_-; So if they *do* mail checks out, it'll STILL go from AZ to San Fran back to where I am-- in Northridge! What a pain. There *was* an edit button, but no matter what I did, I couldn't edit MY info, only my references (that is, Mom and Dad). Geh.
Work today was actually kind of cool. I met some nice people-- Joshua, Tanya, and... well, I forgot the other guy's name, but he was really nice! Plus there's another older guy (he's not a manager though) that is a Wiccan! ^_^ Plus he has a killer "evil laugh," so he's funny, too. My job basically entails taking the online order slips and running around the "textfloor" and getting the books. If they want Used, we grab used; if they want New, we grab New. If they want Used but we only have New, we can substitute-- if they want to pay the extra cost. Some people are stingy and don't want to pay, even for new edition books (AutoCad 2004, for example), so we write a note saying "Only New" and comment on the packing slip that they "Need Sub." If we've run out of the book or it simply hasn't arrived yet, we write O/S (Out of Stock), and move on. It's quite simple-- the most complex part of my job is running around from section to section-- there doesn't seem to be much order to it.
Interesting things about the Matador Bookstore-- the place is bigger than it seems. It's almost like a maze, because even if you don't include the sections of books and supplies, there's the whole back area with the warehouse, a huge break room, and a warehouse. Plus, it's smack in the middle of a great location-- next to Krispy Kreme, across from Jamba Juice and South Side Pizza, and near a small "market." It's air-conditioned, got great music, and everyone's very nice and helpful! School hasn't even started yet, and I already have school pride-- go MATADORS! Olé!
I grabbed a pizza and a root beer before heading to the FinAid office... very long and boring wait, and I nearly forgot why I was there. A good twenty minutes and a near-sunburn later, I was walking down the cul-de-sac on Wilbur back home! And here I am! I've got to go play with the dogs for a while though... maybe do some last minute backyard cleanups, brush-ups, and such. :) I'll be $40 richer by the end of today, and that means I can treat myself to some shopping after work tomorrow. I have the same shift... 9am-1pm, and then on Thursday, 1-5pm. It's not bad! Plus when school officially starts, I can ask to switch to textfloor so I have a regular job, with great pay, nice benefits, and wonderful flexibility!
WDKY10 is almost done (I mean it this time), so maybe you'll see it up within the next few days-- more likely than not, on my site before anywhere else. I've done massive updates to the CSS and styling of the WDKY pages, the file naming, and all the like. Next will be MediaMiner.org, then FFnet, because of their Read Only Mode for the next two days. See you there! ;)
