azurite: (cute ditz mafia)
^_^ I love paychecks. I especially love the big ones with a nice solid number in front, something like a 4 or a 5, followed by 3 other miscellaney numbers. :) I had such a blast at Serramonte yesterday, and what made it even cooler was that Rod didn't mind that I was dragging him everywhere, going into all these chick stores (Macy*s Juniors, RAVE, etc.) ande he didn't seem to mind a bit. I easily must have spent over $200, but it was well spent-- investments, everything.

At Target, I snagged -- Pharaoh/Cleopatra (a game about Egypt by Sierra), Nancy Drew: Secret of the Scarlet Hand (it was $20, but it came with a book!), a pair of rollerblades (only $18!), Amelie (2 disc set!), and Chicago (DVD), a Yu-Gi-Oh shirt (I love the boys' section at Target. I bet I'll look so damn cute in that shirt), and (well, this doesn't count since I already ate them all) Handisnacks Breadsticks and Cheese. Remember those? The sticks have gotten shorter (I think), but they taste better. And there's too much cheese. X_X

I also snagged a bunch of books at B.Dalton's, since they're closing (a lot of stores at Serra are, unfortunately). grabbed X-Day 1&2, Gossip Girl #1 (I won't read it until my flight down to LA. Until then, I have Nancy Drew and "Confessions of a Shopaholic." I love Sophie Kinsella. She's like... Banana Yoshimoto in a different tense, and on sugar), and Strunk and White's Style Guide.

I hit up Rave for a few cute clothes (new jeans, new skirt, new shirt), Macy*s (I admit it, I splurged-- several new shirts, a new skirt), and Hot Topic (a new dress and earrings). I'm feeling so GIRLY! I wonder how Baba will react to all the pink I own now-- it's kinda scary...

Work today was short-- and no one caught me with my book *sneaky smile* so it was even better when they sent me home at 4:40! I saw "Secret Window," which, I discovered, was based on "Secret Window, Secret Garden" by Stephen King-- Johnny Depp really freaked me out. The whole movie was a mind-bender.

Came home and actually worked on my room-- a little. I mostly emptied out that stupid purple and aqua 'body trunk' of mine-- it had so much garbage in it, I really didn't care much as I threw it out. I mean for Pete's sake, a hairclip that said, "Oh, Goody!" on it! COME ON! I kept the rainbow colored shoelaces, of course. Listened to the Chicago soundtrack while I was doing it. Marianya-onee-chan sent me "The Cell Shade Tango" (some girls at a convention adapted Chicago's "The Cell Block Tango" for anime-- Akane sang "And he ran into my mallet. He ran into my mallet TEN times." LOL!) and it was well worth the many hours waiting. It was funny, seriously so.

I've go to go to Virgin tomorrow and use my coupons- I should buy a large CD case like the one I have, and go to J-town to get PG18, Betsufure April, and of course, Shounen Jump 15. So many great series ending! What is it about 2004, I wonder? The year of change?

I still have to finish WDKY9, work on my columns (recent discussion with Mokubazangel over OOC/non-canon has got me fueled to work on that again, and I'm VERY open to hot topics in regards to fanfiction writing), and... blech, the dishes. Might as well jet now, loves... gotta catch the end of 20/20.
azurite: (oh shit)
I'm browsing the 'net looking for good places with Fanfiction-related artickes and hitting up message boards... I found an interesting one that proposes a Legion of Fanfiction Writers-- that proposes to eliminate/eradicate the 'net of Badfics, etc. While I admit it sounds ridiculously power-trippy, I have a feeling I'd end up being a sector head of a fandom (along with several of my friends-- ya'll know who you are) and blow-torching all the baddies.

And someone thought there was actually an entrance exam into this Legion, a'la Private Schools. This got me thinking-- why NOT make an exam? I mean, fanfiction writing is pretty basic, if you dumb it down to its basics, and ignore the specific rules and irks each fandom has. I want to do this! I can program a pretty sophisticated one, if it comes down to it, but I'd like to start small and simple-- Quizilla, maybe. First I'll see what else is listed there in terms of fics. Meanwhile, does anyone have any ideas for specific questions? I have a few topics I want to cover, I know that much-- and maybe I can make graphics for it, too. And of course, list site resources... WOW, this sounds cool.

Also on my fanfiction platter-- a petition of sorts to the FFnet people so we can get yaoi/yuri/slash filters. Working on that with Mamono, but in all honesty, how do you start? As a rule, 'Net petitions are pretty meaningless-- so we want to get other FFnet members who would like to see such a filter say why they want it, and include their FFnet username. If you're at all interested, comment.

BTW, the preview for Troy looks pretty good, but it looks like Hollywood has butchered Greek myth again. I know that Braddy is playing Achilles, but who's Orlando supposed to be? Surely not Paris, right? O_O RIGHT? I am super-confused here. Helen was of Troy, got stolen away by Paris (of Greece, I think) because Aphrodite convinced the fool that if SHE was the most beautiful goddess, he'd have the most beautiful mortal woman as his wife... oh yeah, but she was already married-- to Menelaeus, right? Or M-something...

Back to the fic hunt.
