Contemplation...

Ah, KILLJOY. I was getting a nice sleep in and got woken up by the incessant beeping of my cell phone... Tracy had called and said I didn't have to come in, but now Marcus can't come in and I do. :P So much for a day off. Well, Aaron, if you read this, sorry... I can't do anything today... I'm WORKING. Feh. Damn usher work.

Thanks to Raye Johnson, I scored the Sailor Moon Season 2 boxed set (at least that's what it better be!) from RightStuf.com for only $50!! :O I can't wait... I wish I knew how to rip music from DVDs... what I wouldn't give for a clean version of Ai no Senshi or La Soldier. Well, technically I have Ai no Senshi from Lunarock, but... :P Well, I wish the DVDs would come sooner! :DDD

So, much against my better judgement, I've gone and charted out some pros/cons to going to either Pierce (community college in Northridge) or CCSF. Here are my tabulated results thus far...

I suppose I could transfer to SFSU if I tried hard enough. I have a job in the city alredy; should I be so quick to give it up?

Packed with Hispanics-- I don't speak Spanish, and I'd feel pretty out of place. Lone white girl in not-white land.	Packed with lots of old people. Already went there and felt out of place. Still, there *is* a majority of people "around" my age.
DSL. Cable. Pay-Per-View. And my own TV.	Uhm... none of that stuff.
Sunny weather most of the time.	Not so sunny days... but at least I'd be in an area where friends aren't that far away, and get-togethers are *relatively* easily arranged.

Anyway, I've been put on the waiting list for CSUN! That's tons better than getting rejected outright like I was for SFSU and Rutger's-- and it means I might stand a chance! :DDD They do say to "strongly consider" another option for Fall '04, but if there's even a hair's breadth chance that I might get into CSUN, then I'll go to Pierce for however long. :P Of course, if I did that, I'd have to *stay* in Pierce until I got enough credits to be an upper-division transfer...

*cough* Anyway.

Okay, so I still have hours before I have to go, and that's a good thing. I'll work on WDKY9, design the new layout for Mare Serenitatis (whee!!!!), and link to The Cheer Leader from Darkness Rising. :) I also have to wade through my WDKY8 reviews and post my replies; I haven't done that in a while, and I don't want to delay WDKY9 getting out because of that alone. I got ideas for a few MORE Yu-Gi-Oh fics... I'll even be nice and tell you the title for one of them, but keep in mind, this is a a "temp title."

Midnight Rondevous.

Or maybe Mayonaka no Rondevous (Japanese/French) or... *shrugs* Does anyone know a language in which the word for 'midnight' sounds really cool? See, Rondevous is a French word, but it never got translated nicely into English, so it's also an English word. But the French word for Midnight is 'minuit' or something, and sorry, that just doesn't sound as cool. :P

Ah, and today's Yu-Gi-Oh... darnit, Seto's still stone(d)! Haha... >_> Many old fic ideas coming and hitting me on the head throughout that episode, but most were staring and going "Gawd, why does Yugi look so... pudgy?" He really did. It's like the animators changed that day, and Yami Yugi looked REALLY young, and kind of wide... :P

Last night's Anime FX rocked for one reason alone-- Daft Punk. They commissioned the guy that made Galaxy Express 999 to design ANIME MUSIC VIDEOS for their album, and what a lot of people thought was a fan-made video is really an incredible wordless story set to Daft Punk's music. It RULES. I missed the beginning, but if it's available on DVD or something, I have *got* to get my hands on it. Good shiz!

In BEA news, people seem to want the following things, and I'm contemplating doing them (or not):

* Evidence to support the couple -- eh, I don't really want to do evidence, because it looks desperate. Even, I the purist canonite, knows Seto/Anzu isn't canon, but a fangirl can dream, can't she? It's at least a bit more plausible than a lot of other "couples" in the series *coughcough*Yami/Yugi*cough* ... but...

* Pictures - Well, I do plan on having a fanart section. We already have one submission; I'd like to wait until we get some more before I post it. It's either that or sort the fanart out by Seto + Anzu + Couple, so that you can find nice fanart for each person. Not too many screencaps easily gotten in the series that support them; only a few scenes from Duelist Kingdom and Battle City.

* Link to the other fanlisting - Every fibre in my being is leaning towards a resounding "NO!" Why? Because I've worked a million times harder on BEA, and just because someone beat me to having the "official" fanlisting link to TheFanlistings.org doesn't mean I should boost their hits, help THEM get members and an award, while I flounder. I've been getting all my members based on the hard work of my friends and fans! :) If people like the pairing, join both fanlistings! I don't care either way. But BEA has been around longer, features more, looks nicer... etc. etc. I'm not bashing the webmistress or anything; she just beat me to the TFL-approved bit.

I do believe that's it. Now that I think about it, I have a LOT of work to do.

Blame ALL of that on MK, who mentioned all the stuff in the '90s that I loved. Since she listed hers, I'm going to get all nostalgic on you and do the same thing.

I loved Animaniacs. It was a Michelle-and-Mer thing, and we even went on Live 105 with Alex Bennett once, and sang the Nations of the World (well, Michelle did; I'd memorized the States and Capitals) with the guy that did Yakko's voice. We have an autographed hat to prove it! :DDD We also adored Tiny Toons. BABS ROCKED! :)

Whenever I had the chance to see a Nickelodeon show, I'd always try to catch Alex Mack. I was lucky enough to get Goosebumps on Fox Kids... would you believe that I actually won something once? Everyone at middle school was like "Mer, did you watch Fox Kids yesterday? You won, you won!" and I was all O_O!!! NOOOOT FAIR!! But eventually I did get a cool Goosebumps video. *huggles* Even if it's cheesy, it's all mine!

Nightmare Before Christmas, back then, was heralded as something SO COOL. And it's like a phenomena in Japan or something, and they still pump out millions of toys every year. The movie DOES rock, and I was never sure when to watch it-- Halloween, Christmas, or both. Jack is so cool.

I also remember Double Dare... that's why it was so weird watching Unwrapped this past year; I was like "O_o Where have I seen that guy before???" It wasn't always a big deal at my old school; I know we always picked "It" people by doing "Aaah, Mush" and those weird rhymes. You know, like "Lincoln, Lincoln, I been thinking, what the heck have you been drinkin', is it water, is it wine, oh my gosh, it's turpentine, O-U-T and out and out you go." And you'd point to someone with each syllable or so, and whoever was "out" was... well, out. Or it. Apparently the whole thing with DD is this: Truth, Dare, Double Dare, Promise to Repeat. And if you back out of a dare, someone can challenge you and say "I Double DOG Dare You" and if you back out of THAT, you're as chicken as Foster Farms.

Clarissa Explains It All was what made me adore Melissa Joan Hart. So I watched Sabrina religiously, until she went to college, and then the show started sucking. :P

The Babysitter's Club was a reason to continually go back to the library-- and also start up my own babysitting "franchise." It didn't last long, but I had the license and everything to prove it! I was more into Nancy Drew.

And KQED/PBS, as far as I was concerned, was good for only one thing: Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?. She rocks SO HARD. I had a book puzzle game and everything, but I lost some of the pieces. I love mystery games. And I always wanted to be on the show... of course, back then, I didn't know half that much about geography. It would have been cool, though.

Do you remember Gushers? They're still around now, with stupid commercials, but MAN, I love those snacks! Give me Gushers any day! YUM! MK mentions a lot of movies I adored too-- Hocus Pocus (I got scared too, but I saw it on tape, so there was nowhere to run. I ended up singing "Come little children" rather incessantly, though. And "Amok amok amok, ugh!" until it got annoying), Neverending Story (that WAS kinda scary and complicated... there never should have been sequels, though. I loved the big fluffy dog-dragon. I wanted one for a pet), Homeward Bound (I cried too. Now that you mention it, I wanna see it again...), Lady Lovely Locks-- OHMYGOD! It's been years since I could remember the title for this! YOU ROCK SO HARD, MK! ;_; I loved that! And... and Jem! Holy bejezus...

Mousetrap was a pain to assemble, but SO friggin' cool when it worked. I still have some of the plastic mice lying around my room somewhere. Hehe.

And I did all sorts of weird things... back when I was a cheerleader (shut up) I tied my shirt up in a knot-- even in elementary school, you could tell it got the boys all bothered. :) And though hats weren't allowed, whenever I wore one, it was either backwards or with my ponytail going through the back in some cool-arsh design. I even invented a special "invsible hair" bun that only required one hair scrunchie, and people thought I hacked my hair. It was so fun to take off my hat and go "ta-dah!" and all my long hair would reappear again.

I never had a Tamogotchi, but I had a Nano Pet. Remember the annoying commercials "Nano nano here, nano nano now!"? Well in middle school, I chased boys around a lot, and the blasted Nano fell off my belt loop and reset. After my longest stretch (21 days, I think) too-- pissed me off so bad, I destroyed the damn thing by crushing it, and forever separating it from its batteries. And they were SO illegal in schools. But hey, POGS were, too! Do you remember Pogs? I was so damn good at that game...

As for TV shows, Fox was my friend back then. Saved by the Bell... *dr00ls* I had such a crush on Zack. Now his actor is on NYPD Blue. O_O And there was also Out of This World. I practiced putting my fingers together, but I never froze time. Bummer. I adored TGIF, too, with Full House. I think several years went by before I figured out there were TWO Olsen kids. Boy Meets World was with me to the end... man, Savage men are so HOTT! I wish they didn't cancel all the good shows with them in it... *sniff* One episode in particular got me cooking up a storm one day, and Mom came home to a bunch of cookies, pies, cakes, fruit bars, and stuff and went ((O_O))!!

Ghostwriter (the first season) and Eerie, Indiana also rocked. I liked mystery a LOT back then. I suppose I should get back into it. I HATED the Hansons. Still do. Those... freaks look like... well, whatever. "Mm, Bop" is NOT a song. I also loved Wayside School, and Mrs. Frizzle. I was a QUEEN at the Jump-Rope-For-Heart, and knew more rhymes than most people. I was so-so at Chinese Jump Rope, and wish I still played. I have a working Chinese Jump Rope. Anyone up for Five? Roald Dahl was one of the coolest writers. I did have to ask Dad for him to define some weird stuff, though.

Man... I can't figure out if I liked the 90s or not. :P Maybe the first half was okay...
