Well, it appears FFnet is down...
Jun. 10th, 2003 02:15 amBlah. I tried FFcom too, but none work. I spent most of the past hour and a half working on vector artwork; rastorizing, whatever you call it. My first one was pretty strange looking, but still somewhat cool, I think. Take a peek:
What do you think? ^.^ I'm pretty proud of it, considering I managed to use a lot of the techniques I learned. And passing on my Photoshop knowledge to eager and willing learners, like Aerisande, makes me feel all chipper. She made herself a pretty cool banner for one of her fanfics, applying effects to the text, blending to the background-- all quite good work for someone that couldn't tell the pen tool from the brush. ^_^
I'm so glad I finally chose to get some amusement by checking the Blissful Ignorance boards. While doing the new layout for Souten: The Azure Sky (yes, I finally got the layout to work! WAHOO!) I remembered a site I still have yet to start; Archive Obscura, where I post fics that aren't of well-known or popular fandoms-- like Full Metal Panic. Despite a few great authors having written downright DELECTABLE (this is all in props to blackrose's "Dinner and Dessert" on the Blissful Ignorance boards cited above) fics for FMP, FFnet still doesn't see it as reason to put a section on their site for it. Or Full Moon o Sagashite, among others. I helped FFnet get Peach Girl and Pretear sections, but I think they're sick of hearing from me when it comes to FMP and FMoS. =P
ANYWAY, I was quite pleased to find blackrose updated D&D... ooh, such a yummy fic! The scary thing? If you know FMP, this will make sense, otherwise... well, it'll take a brief (haha) explanation. Jonathan reminds me of Sousuke. For those unknown to the FMP world, Sousuke is a soldier, part of an intelligence agency known as Mithril. He's spent all his life, since he was a little kid, fighting. He's never known what a normal Japanese guy would call "everyday life." And blackrose's fic decides to exploit this "weakness" of his... oh, I was giggling my butt off. Kaname, the heroine, is trying to seduce him, but Sousuke's stubbornness (Captain Clueless, as she called him) makes him quite difficult to get romantic with. And here I'm thinking: "Jonathan. That's SO Jonathan." And here I just kissed him last night! X_X Still, if I ever had it in mind to... well, yeah. *grin* Maybe I WILL adopt some of Kaname's "tricks" for my own. Who knows? Besides, don't they say great minds think alike?
Blah, for the record, I make fantastic grilled cheese, but only when the ingredients are right. Maybe the cheese is expired, or maybe it's the fact that it isn't what I'm used to (Tillamook Sharp Cheddar). This weird Kraft sliced singles stuff, sharp cheddar or no, is YUCKY! It tasted much better at the bonfire for Eva's birthday, on BURGERS! =P The bread mom got is gross too; I feel like I'm eating a squished muffin. It's got poppy seeds in it, and I can't help thinking of those jumbo-sized muffins from Costco. *dr00ls* Man, I loved those. I want to go back to Costco...
*insane giggling* Ohmigosh, there's still one chapter of D&D left, and now I'm all twitchy wondering what's going to happen... PLOT! It's not just sappy romance, it's IN CHARACTER ANGST! IT'S DRAMA! It's *waves hands around dramatically* It's FMP!
There's still so much to do... I want to spend time working in Photoshop, working on the Hinata project, working on PSV... I need to look into getting a scanner. Need to free up space on the hard drive and revise my Wish List. Need to make my appointment with Lida for my hair dye job, and need to get stuff together for Fanime (current party: Will, Amber, Mike, Aaron, myself, ?, ?, ?) and need to write that 1000 word story. Should work on unfinished fanfiction, revise my Lyric Wheel, work on "Golden Apple" and "Spooferlicious," my two co-fics of the summer, and get dead pages up at all my sites.
@_@... and I still need to go to CCSF tomorrow afternoon, get my registration ticket, and try to ADD myself into the evening Japanese class. If I don't get in, I'm pretty much screwed, unless I force myself to go to the last possible open section of Japanese there, starting on the 23rd (I'm thinkin' I'll be pretty zonked after Fanime...), which is a daily class starting at 9:10am! ;_; I DUN WANNA!! I'd rather have a job than go to school this summer, but if I can get into that evening Japanese class... *sigh* Now all I need is the job. Things have been so close to heavenly so far, all I need is to get a job! Webdesign, filing, typing, SOMETHING!! Gah, I need to get my stupid references together or just not use them at all! (Advice?)
