I sincerely hope that the teacher thinks enough to allow us to write what we feel (one of the worksheets in the syllabus pretty much defined every little aspect of a scene/story which we're probably going to have to write. I didn't like it at all) and expose us to other writers besides himself and the usual suspects (Shakespeare, Dickinson, Hemingway, etc).
